The Mabel-Canton School Board unanimously approved the 2023-24 preliminary budget at the June 20 meeting. The projected 2023-24 enrollment is a total of 274 students (250 Minnesota residents, and 24 Iowa residents), down four Decorah students. M-C approves non-certified employee working agreement
The 2023-24 and 2024-25 working agreements for non-certified employees were approved by the Mabel-Canton School Board at its April 18 meeting. Superintendent Gary Kuphal noted that sick leave will stay the same as in the past. The committee is recommending a $1.25/hour increase for all non-certified employees. Mabel-Canton School Board members regretfully accepted the resignation of Daryl Melbostad, building maintenance supervisor, at the March 21 regular school board meeting. Spring Grove (8-0, 13-1) was the area 9-Man headliner, as the Lions made it all the way to the state championship game. Last season was again a strong year on the wrestling mats. Chatfield was one win away from the 1A title, and finished as section runner-up (15-2). They sent four guys to state.
