Golf: Falcon Gals, Scheevel Win W-K Tourney

Nine complete boys teams and eight complete girls teams competed at the Wabasha-Kellogg Tourney at the par 72/71 (boys/girls) Coffee Mill Golf Course. On the gals’ side, Fillmore Central avenged a regular season head-to-head loss by topping Caledonia by two strokes (348 to 350). Lanesboro (370), W-K (385), La Crescent/Hokah (435), Rushford-Peterson (449), PEM (458), and Lewiston-Altura (517) followed. Falcon senior Myleigh Scheevel shot a four-over-par 75 with her two best rounds of the year (38/37) to top the field. Caledonia’s Hayden Harms shot 82 (42/40) to take second. Lanesboro’s Addison McCabe (40/44 > 84), Warrior Maggie Herman (44/43 > 87), and Falcon Lily Miller (44/45 > 89) finished third, fourth and fifth. Caledonia’s Ellison Harms (90) and Lanesboro’s Ellie McCabe (90s) tied for sixth. Falcon Annika Mensink (91) and Warrior Jazzlyn Hauser (91) tied for ninth. Forty girls competed. On the guys’ side, LC/H (319) topped TRC-East foes FC (326), R-P (336), and Caledonia (358) followed by Lanesboro (363), W-K (365), PEM (365), L-A (382), and D-E (387). Days after shooting a two-under 34 versus FC in league play, Lancer Ryan Nutter posted an even-par 72 (37/35) to pace the field. With three birdies, Falcon Brock Sikkink also twice went sub-40 (38/39) to take second (77). Teammate Brody Srsen (42/37 > 79), Lanesboro’s Jack Brogle (39/40 > 79), and LC/H’s Landen Tully (39/40 > 79) tied for third. R-P’s Jaxson Meldahl (82), took seventh. Falcon Aiden Arnold (83), Caledonia’s top golfer J.T. Hammell (83), and Trojan Sam LaFleur (83) were part of four-way tie for eighth place.  Fifty-three total guys competed.

(B and G) PIZM Tourney (Caledonia’s boys (348) topped PIZM (349), Chatfield (377), Triton (417), and K-W (incomplete). Chatfield’s Carson Harstad (34/45 > 79) topped Caledonia’s Coby Hammell (37/44 > 81) and J.T. Hammell (40/41 > 81), PIZM’s Issac Schurke (43/39 > 82), and K-W’s Ayden Horsman (41/45 > 85). Warrior Carson Klug (90) took ninth. PIZM’s girls (356) topped Triton (421) a second PIZM team (429) and La Crescent/Hokah (434). K-W, Cannon Falls, and Chatfield were incomplete. PIZM’s Neva Anderson (40/37 > 77) topped CF’s Livia Tennessen (44/42 > 86), Triton’s Tessa Tushaus (46/42 > 88), PIZM’s Cora Anderson (47/42 > 89), and Chatfield’s Brynn Tweten (47/42 > 89). Both events were held at the 18-hole par-70 Zumbrota GC)

(G) Lake City’s The Jewel Invite (Class A Fillmore Central (361) took ninth (of 13) amongst Class AA and AAA teams. Elk River (312) and Holy Family Catholic (312) shared the team title.  Elk River’s Lexi O’Donnell (75) and Mayo’s Flora Bolster (75) shared the individual title. FC’s top finisher was Lily Miller (84), who tied for 21st (of 77). At the 18-hole par 71 The Jewel GC)
