Final SEC girls standings had Lanesboro (14-4, 22-7) taking the East over Houston (13-5, 14-13), Spring Grove (10-8, 12-15), Mabel-Canton (5-13, 8-20), and Schaeffer Academy (4-14, 7-21). The 2023 Section 1A girls’ basketball game will be a re-match. Grand Meadow (2-seed, 25-2), ranked #7, easily got through the 1A quarters and then executed down the stretch of the semis to make their second straight title game. Girls Basketball: Larks Run SEC Gamut/Knock off Knights

Grand Meadow girls basketball had a huge week, knocking off the other three best teams in the SEC. On Monday, #11 in A GM took down Houston (8-2, 8-9). Ryan Queensland’s group used a 14-2 run out of intermission to expand a 32-23 lead into a 46-25 edge. On the road, they prevailed 60-35, ending Houston’s four-game win streak. Grand Meadow girls basketball started the season with six wins. Ryan Queensland’s group has won six in a row again. Included were two key 1A wins. At FC, a 20-20 halftime tie gave way to a 38-29 GM lead (3:21). FC then scored seven in a row to close to 38-36 (1:08). Basketball: Lark Girls Take on Hayfield Tourney

Four games into the season, Grand Meadow girls basketball has thus far made life difficult for opposing teams offensively. Ryan Queensland’s group posted two wins on the week, yielding a combined 55 points.
