Boys Basketball: Burros Top M-C, Houston

Lanesboro boys basketball mini-trekked, schedule-wise, through a pair of SEC-East foes, posting two wins. Girls Basketball: Hurricanes Whirl Through Burros

The last five SEC-East girls basketball titles have been won by either Houston or Lanesboro. The Burros ended the Hurricanes’ four-year run last year, as the teams finished first and second in the division. Girls Basketball: Warriors Trap Gophers, Down Tigers in Hoops Event

Caledonia girls continued their strong season with a couple section 1AA wins. In a matchup of TRC divisions leaders, the Warriors (4-0, 7-2), the East leader, had little trouble in dispatching with Chatfield (4-0, 8-3), the West leader. It was a good week for Spring Grove b-ball teams. Spring Grove boys enjoy runaway road win over Rebels

The Spring Grove boys pummeled Southland with 3-point shooting and a swarming, long-armed defense that limited the Rebels to a season-low 33 points while forcing 25 turnovers – almost twice the number of the Rebels’ 13 field goals. The Spring Grove boys defeated state-ranked No. 9 Mankato Loyola, 61-54, in the Southern Minny Hoops Fest at Byron, sponsored by Breakdown on Saturday, Jan 7. The Spring Grove girls extended their winning streak to three games with a third straight win in the series against Southland, 47-36, on Jan. 6 at Spring Grove. Paige Klug scored 22 points, hitting six threes, as Caledonia’s girls beat Maple River 81-52 at the Goodhue holiday tourney.  A day later, Caledonia (7-2) fell to the host #10 in AA Wildcats (7-2) by a 57-54 final in a key 1AA contest.  Kara Goetzinger scored 24 and 23 points, but Chatfield fell to Class AAA schools New Ulm 67-43 and K-M 84-59 at the WSU Tourney.  She was 21 of … [Read more...]

Basketball: Trojans Host 3-Coops Tourney

Rushford-Peterson hosted a six school boys/girls holiday basketball shindig which also featured Spring Grove.  The Trojans, Lions, Dawson-Boyd, Higher Ground Academy, Annandale, and West Lutheran competed. Basketball: Kingsland Hosts Fillmore Central For Holiday Games
