A year ago, the SEC’s top two softball teams, Houston and Southland, played each other three times. The SEC champion Rebels came out on top in all three affairs, 6-1, 6-4, and 2-0. Golf: Chatfield Guys, Caledonia’s Hauser Win R-P Tourney
This year’s golf schedule includes a lot of tournaments. Rushford-Peterson held one at Ferndale Course. The boys event featured the Trojans plus “Journal-covered” teams Chatfield, Lanesboro, Caledonia and Houston as well as Lewiston-Altura and Dover-Eyota. Boasting last year’s 1A boys and girls teams champions, Fillmore Central golf got off to a strong start to the 2024 season. Each team won its three head-to-heads of the week. In a high school softball game, seventeen runs are not unheard of, but it is a lot. Thirty-one runs in a high school baseball game are a category five deluge.
