Spring Grove baseball beat Schaeffer 23-1 and M-C 6-0 to run their win streak to four. Ezra Griffin was 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run, and five RBI versus SA while a trio of SG pitchers tossed a five-inning no hitter. Brandon Jahnke tossed a nine-strikeout, one-hitter in beating the Cougars. Five of six SG games have been either no-hitters or one-hitters. And the Lions have given up just four total runs in their five wins. SG (4-1, 5-1) is tied with #7 in A Southland (4-1, 5-1) behind #1 in A L/P (4-0, 5-0) atop the SEC. Chatfield scored four in the seventh, including getting a Ben Carrier three-run home run, to break a 5-5 tie and down R-P 9-6. Kail Schott hit a two-run home run but the Gophers fell 8-6 to Cotter. Sam Howard was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run as GMLOK beat G-E/AC 17-7. Katryn Johnson struck out nine as Chatfield softball beat R-P 10-0 in five. The Gophers then dropped a game to TRC-East leader Cotter (7-0, 7-2) by 4-0 final. Chatfield (4-2, 7-3) trails D-E (4-1, 5-2) in the TRC-West. Emily Botcher struck out 12 and got the win as Houston beat SG 10-0. Tylar Wenthold struck out 15 and got the win as M-C handed Houston its first SEC loss, 4-2. Botcher struck out 10 in defeat. Cassandra Boyum had a double, a home run, and four RBI, as R-P beat Botcher-less Houston 21-11. Olivia Yohe hit a home run in defeat. Lucie Voigt was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, and hit her second home run, Aspen Kolling struck out 15 and got the win, as GMLOK beat G-E/AC 10-4. Jensyn Storhoff was 4-for-4 with four runs, struck out 14 and got the win, as FC/L beat Schaeffer 15-2. Izabel Kaufman hit a home run but SG fell to Goodhue 5-1. Brock Sikkink shot a 38 as FC boys golf (4-0, 4-0) beat R-P 166 to 174, each team scoring a season-low. Trojan Jaxson Meldahl co-medaled also with a 38. FC’s girls also won to also improve to 4-0, 4-0. Carson Harstad shot a 39, Brayden Fretland a 40, and Colton Johnson a 41 to lead Chatfield (4-0, 4-0) over L-A 164-180. Taylor Ask (43) medaled for the Gopher girls. J.T. Hammell shot a 41 as Caledonia beat W-K. Hammell shot a 77 and Chatfield’s Harstad an 80 to take second and third at the PIZM Tourney. Harstad shot a 75 (36/39) to take fourth at the Lake City Tourney. Jack Brogle shot a 41 to lead Lanesboro over GMLO. FC’s Myleigh Scheevel (84) took 13th at the big-school White Bear Lake Tourney (shot a back-nine 38). At the Hamline Elite track and field meet, GMLOKS’ Sam Snitker went 6’8” to win the High Jump. Teammate Chantle Reiland took third in the 100-meters (12.08). Each set new program records. C/SG’s Josh Beardmore took seventh in the 100-meters, but also set a program record with his preliminary run (10.85).
