Chatfield softball went 2-1 on the week, notably beating rival St. Charles 15-6 and Lake City 11-1 while falling to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 5-3. Freshman Makenna Dornack was 4-for-4 with four RBI and four runs versus the Saints and 2-for-5 with five RBI versus the Tigers. Rylee Urban collected both wins, striking out nine versus Lake City. She improved to 5-1 on the year. Katryn Johnson hit her second home run in the loss to LCWM. The Gophers (3-1, 6-2) and Dover-Eyota (3-1, 3-2) sit atop the TRC-West. Spring Grove’s Emerson Ingvalson hit a grand slam home run and drove in five total runs as the Lions beat Mabel-Canton 17-2 in four innings. Caden Boyum struck out eight in picking the complete game win in Chatfield baseball’s 5-1 victory over St. Charles. The senior was then 4-for-4 in game two of the doubleheader, but the Gophers gave up six unanswered runs late and fell 6-5 in eight innings to the Saints. Spring Grove’s Ben Udstuen gave up one hit in 4 2/3 innings in improving to 3-0 on the year as the Lions (2-1, 3-1) beat Houston 13-1 in five innings. Nolan Nelson struck out 11 and collected the win as Houston beat Medford 7-2. Morgan Rohweder struck out three in relief, bringing his 12-inning strikeout total to 31. GMLOKS’ track and field teams easily each won the three-squad Triton Meet. Sam Snitker reset the Bulldogs High Jump mark at 6’7”. Chantle Reiland won the 100, 200, and 400-meter races. Beau Wiersma (200, Long Jump), Tate Georgen (400, 800), Lauren Queensland (800, High Jump), Breeley Galle (300-hurdles, Triple Jump), and Lexy Foster (Shot Put, Discus) each won two individual events. Chatfield girls won the four-team Lewiston-Altura Meet. Jaelyn LaPlante (100, High Jump, 4×100, 4×200) and Savannah Peterson (200, Long Jump, 4×100, 4×200) had four total first places. Lexi Kivimagi (800, 1,600) and guy performer Keegan Patten (110-hurdles, 300-hurdles) won two individual events. Evy Goldsmith and Lauryn Daniels joined the above two on the 4×100 and 4×200’s. Lanesboro’s Kaden Stettler medaled with a 39 and Jack Brogle had a 40 in Lanesboro boys golf win over Houston. The girls also won to improve to 3-0. Chatfield’s boys golf beat St. Charles to improve to 3-0, 3-0. Caledonia’s J.T. Hammell shot a 40 in a team loss to TRC-East stalwart La Crescent/Hokah.
