Homestands are a thing mainly in Major League baseball. High school baseball is a bit different. Three “Journal-covered” track and field teams, RPH, GMLOK and Chatfield hosted meets where all five “Journal-covered” programs competed, C/SG at Tro-Canes’ Meet, LFCMC at the Gophers Meet.  RPH’s event saw the Tro-Cane boys (140) top nearest foe Caledonia/Spring Grove (66). Softball: Warriors Trek into Rare Territory

Ten wins in a row in softball is not an easy task. Caledonia performed the feat, courtesy of a three-win week. Versus St. Charles, the Saints jumped out 3-0 and 5-1. A dramatic week for Caledonia baseball stoked a massive win streak. At Lourdes, victory was in peril following a five-run fourth that put the Eagles up 7-2. Chatfield softball went 2-1 on the week, notably beating rival St. Charles 15-6 and Lake City 11-1 while falling to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 5-3. GMLOK’s baseball and softball teams played at Mabel-Canton and each game was denoted by a seventh inning comeback. A year ago, the SEC’s top two softball teams, Houston and Southland, played each other three times. The SEC champion Rebels came out on top in all three affairs, 6-1, 6-4, and 2-0.
