Grand Meadow (23-7), Kingsland (19-9), and Lanesboro (19-9) were the top teams in the SEC. The All-SEC girls basketball team is thus headed by players from the Larks, Knights, and Burros. Section runner-up Grand Meadow gets two 1st Team All-SEC picks and two 2nd Team All-SEC selections. Sisters Kendyl Queensland (5’9” Jr. G) and Lauren Queensland (5’9” Fr. F) make the 1st Team. Kendyl led the team at 11.3 PPG while contributing a team third-best 5.2 RPG. The junior added 2.5 APG and 1.6 SPG, each second best on the team. The middle Queensland girl hit a team-best 73 of 94 free throws at a team-best 78% clip. She was All-SEC 2nd Team last season. Lauren Queensland led GM in rebounding at 8.0 RPG while adding 9.9 PPG. The frosh hit 31 threes at a 34% clip while also making 73% of her free throws (32 of 44). She makes 1st Team All-SEC in her first year of varsity. All three Queensland sisters have now been All-SEC 1st Team, as eldest sister Riley did so as well. Making the All-SEC 2nd Team for GM are River Landers (6’0” Sr. C) and McKenna Hendrickson (5’5” Jr. G). Landers repeats as All-SEC 2nd Team. She averaged team second-bests 11.1 PPG and 5.8 RPG. The senior led the team in field goal percentage with an excellent 56% clip (117 of 209). Hendrickson was the team’s top three-pointer shooter, hitting 42 of 136 trifectas (31%). It helped the junior to average a team third-best 10.8 PPG. Hendrickson added a team-high 2.1 SPG plus 4.0 RPG. Making All-SEC HM for the Superlarks is Sydney Cotten (5’6” Jr. G). Cotten averaged 4.5 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and a team-best 2.8 APG. GM was the only Journal 11 girls’team to win 20-plus games. SEC-West champion Kingsland gets one 1st Team All-SEC pick and two 2nd teamers. Anika Reiland (5’6” junior G) earns 1st team after leading the Knights in every statistical category, scoring (9.8 PPG), rebounding (8.3 RPG), assists (4.2 APG), and steals (4.7 SPG). She had 14 double-digit scoring games, 11 double-digit rebound games, two double-digit assist games, and a double-digit steal game. She had eight double-doubles and one triple-double. Reiland had a nearly 2:1 assist to turnovers ratio. No player in the SEC likely turned more steals into layups. The speedy junior was All-SEC HM last season. Seniors Audrey Webster (5’6” G) and Shelby Beck (5’9” F) make the All-SEC 2nd Team.

Webster averaged a team second-best 8.9 PPG. She added 3.8 RPG, 2.6 APG, and 1.7 SPG. Webster led the team by making 53 of 159 threes (33% clip). She was All-SEC HM in 2020. Beck was an athletic glue player who averaged 6.6 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, and 1.4 SPG. Both Webster and Beck were (at least) three-year varsity contributors. Making All-SEC HM for Kingsland was Katelyn Hauser (5’8” So. G). Hauser averaged 6.6 PPG on a team second-best 37 threes made. Said players helped the Knight to a third straight SEC-West title. SEC-East champion Lanesboro sports one All-SEC 1st team pick and one All-SEC 2nd team pick. Kaci Ruen (5’11” Jr. C) heads the entire All-SEC cast, as the Burro starting post was named 1st Team All-SEC including SEC Player of the Year. The strong athlete averaged a double-double, 19 PPG and 12.3 RPG. She was the only Journal 11 player to do so and was percentage points ahead of R-P’s Ruberg for Journal 11 girls leading scorer. Ruen scored in double figures in every game save one. She had double-digit rebounds in every game save six. She ended the year with eight straight double-doubles, had double-doubles in 14 of her last 15 contests, and ended with 21 total. Ruen scored 20-plus in a game 12 times including 43 versus LeRoy-Ostrander. She had 15-plus rebounds in a game nine times including 26 versus Mabel-Canton. She shot 57% from the field (221 of 390). Ruen was All-SEC HM as a sophomore. Making 2nd Team All-SEC is Jessie Schreiber (5’11” F). The junior averaged a team third-best 8.8 PPG and a team second- best 8.9 RPG. She added 2.2 APG, 1.3 SPG, and 1.4 BPG. Schreiber was All-SEC HM in 2020. Making All-SEC HM for Lanesboro is Jensyn Storhoff (5’5” 8th grade G). Maybe the most all-around skilled Burro, Storhoff averaged a team second-best 9.2 PPG plus 5.4 RPG, a team-best 3.3 APG, and 2.0 SPG.
After the top three teams, Houston, Spring Grove, and Mabel-Canton each have their best players honored. Houston’s Sydney Torgerson (5’9” Jr. F) earned All-SEC for a third straight year, the only player this season to do so. She led Houston in about everything, scoring (17.6 PPG), rebounding (9.2 RPG), and steals (4.0 SPG). She also chipped in a team second-best 3.4 APG. Torgerson hit 134 of 179 free throws at an excellent 75% clip. She shot 55% from the field. The junior went over 1,000 career points early in the season and is destined to finish top three on Houston’s all-time girls scoring list, which is select company. Torgerson is the third highest Journal 11 girls scorer behind K-Ruen and Ruberg. Lilly Carr (5’7” Jr F) made All-SEC HM for the Hurricanes. She averaged a team third-best 8.1 PPG and a team second-best 5.6 RPG. Carr hit 49 of 70 free throws (70% clip). For Spring Grove, Jordian Leahy (5’7” Sr. G) makes All-SEC 1st Team. She led the Lions with 13.8 PPG while adding 3.5 RPG and 2.0 SPG. Leahy hit a team second-best 39 of 115 threes, a solid 34% clip. She also sank a team-best 67 free throws. Leahy was All-SEC HM last season. Addyson McHugh (5’10” Jr. F) made All-SEC HM for the Lions. The junior averaged a team second-best 10.3 PPG plus 4.1 RPG and a team-best 3.4 SPG. McHugh hit a team-high 50 threes at a 33% clip. Mabel-Canton’s Kinley Soiney (5’10” 8th grader G/F) made All-SEC 2nd team. As just an 8th grader, Soiney was the Cougars top player. She averaged team-bests in scoring (10.6 PPG), rebounding (7.1 RPG), and steals (2.3 SPG). She also hit a team-best 36 threes while adding a team second-best 1.7 APG. Hope Erickson (5’8” Fr. F) made All-SEC HM, as she averaged team second-bests 5.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 2.0 SPG. Rounding out the list is LeRoy-Ostrander’s only selection. Samantha Volkart (5’8” Sr. F) made All-SEC HM. The senior averaged well-rounded numbers of 9.4 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.5 APG, and 2.8 SPG. She was third in points and steals, second in rebounds and assists for the Cards.
