Lanesboro School Signs Athletic Trainer Agreement

After waiting months, the Lanesboro School Board finally had an agreement with Mayo for Athletic Trainer Services to sign at their November 8 meeting. The three-year agreement carries a fee of $8,736 the first year, $8,998 (a 3% increase) the second year, and $9,268 (another 3% increase) the third year. Lanesboro Public School welcomed five new teachers to its staff with the beginning of this school year: Alexa Horihan, Emily Goodnow, Lori Crum, Michelle Leon, and Kirsten Bakke. Alexa Horihan, originally from Houston, Minn., graduated from Houston High School, and went to college at RCTC and later WSU, Rochester. The Lanesboro, Minn., School Board heard at their regular September 13 meeting that the school was fully staffed for the year, unlike last year when staff openings had existed and resulted in a need for creative staffing to cover classes. Lanesboro (4-seed, 21-6) led Kingsland (5-seed, 21-5) 34-19 at halftime, but had to hold back a Knight surge to ensure victory. Lanesboro School’s long-awaited solar panels on the grid

Superintendent Matt Schultz finally got to report to the Lanesboro School Board at their March 8 meeting that the solar panels were installed and hooked up to the grid. After an inspection on March 9, the meters will begin recording exactly how much energy the panels collect. Schultz said they were hopeful for $20,000 in savings each year. Boys basketball games between Fillmore Central and Lanesboro are typically asterisked on the schedule. The Spring Grove boys came in with a seven-game winning streak while Lanesboro had taken its last six games. Lanesboro boys basketball mini-trekked, schedule-wise, through a pair of SEC-East foes, posting two wins. Lanesboro Teacher Conference a success
