After back-to-back weeks of turning it on in the second half to down foes, Lanesboro football, ranked #2 in 9-Man, turned its early season motus operandi, backwards. The Burros scored on all six of their first half drives to lead LeRoy-Ostrander 20-6 after one quarter and 40-18 at halftime. In a game that went well into the night because of all the scoring, the Cardinals passing, and 14 total penalties, James Semmen’s group stayed perfect courtesy of a 58-26 victory. The Cardinals scored the only points of the third quarter, narrowing Lanesboro’s lead to 40-26. But the Burros scored the final 18 points of the game. Four different Burros had at least one rushing touchdown. Senior stand-out Orion Sass (19-165, 2 TDs rushing) went over 160 yards rushing a third straight game. Mason Howard (9-64, 2 TDs rushing, 3 of 9, 108 yards, 2 TDs passing) accounted for four total TDs. He hit Luke Ruen (2-98, TD receiving) and Peyton Olson (10-yard TD catch) for scores. Hayden Lawstuen (5-63, TD rushing) and Michael Rein (2-37, TD rushing) also found paydirt on the ground. Lanesboro ran for 343 yards. They had 299 and 462 weeks one and two of the season. L-O did most of its work through the air. Quarterback Camden Hungerholt (19 of 33, 225 yards, 2 TDs passing) hit Carter Sweeney (6-101, 2 TDs receiving) for a pair of touchdowns. Tristan Lewison (7-78 receiving) also was busy with his hands. The senior scored via a 98-yard kick-off return TD. Peyton Roe (14-69 rushing) led the L-O ground game. Lanesboro improved to 3-0, 3-0. L-O fell to 1-2, 1-2. The Burros and Spring Grove (3-0, 3-0) are the only South-East teams left undefeated.
