Steven Rein obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Steven Craig Rein, age 77, of Lanesboro, Minn., passed away on March 16, 2026, in La Crosse, Wis.

Steven was born on May 3, 1948, in Lanesboro, Minn., to John Gordon Rein II and Evelyn Nora (Biel)

Rein. Steven attended Highland Country School through sixth grade. He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1966 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Following his graduation, Steven returned to the Highland area to

farm alongside his father and two brothers, John and Peter.

On September 20, 1969, Steven married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Christine Flaby. He was a devoted husband and loving father to Deborah and their five children. Steven was known for his strong work ethic on the farm and his lifelong passion for motorcycles. Steven enjoyed gardening, touring around the United States with Deborah on his Harley Davidson, taking family vacations to Wisconsin and the West, visiting Norway and other European countries, and spending time exploring new roads on his Harley Davidson or electric bicycle.

Steven will be remembered as a quiet, kind, and dedicated man who always put his family first.

Steven is survived by his wife Deborah Christine Rein of Lanesboro, his brother Peter Michael Rein (Donna); his sister Cynthia Jane Holmen (Robert),  his children Christine Anne Knutson (John), Jennifer Lyn Rein (John Nelson), Benjamin Steven Rein (Amber), Adam Craig Rein, and Jesse Michael Rein (Heather Burt); his grandchildren Tyler Knutson (Morgan), Timothy Knutson (Samantha), Anthony Knutson, Chelsea Roberts, Markus Mulvihill, Steven Rein (Kathryn), Jaime Rein, Nora Rein, Kimberly Rein, Rachel Rein, Ava Rein, and Alivia Rein; and his great-grandchildren Leyton Knutson, Grayden Knutson, and Benjamin Rein.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents John Gordon Rein II and Evelyn Nora Biel Rein; his

brother John Gordon Rein III, father-in-law Gerald Flaby and mother-in-law Eunice Flaby; sister-in-law Sonja Venant and brother-in-law Jean Claude Venant; and his grandson Cole Benjamin Rein.
