John P. Link

April 20, 2017 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal - John Link Obituary

John P. Link, 51, of Kasson, Minn., passed away on April 17, 2017 at his home in Kasson.

John Peter Link was born in Spring Valley, Minn., on March 19, 1966, son of Orlo and Ruth (Schoppers) Link.  He was confirmed in the Wykoff Methodist Church, and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1984.  John graduated from Mechanical School at Rochester Vo-Tech in 1986.  Through the years John became a Senior Master Certified Automotive Technician.  In 1985 John married Lisa Leibold; they later divorced.  On February 24, 2010, John married Heather Evans Kerkhoff in Las Vegas, Nev.

At a young age John felt the need for speed.  His passion for motorcycles started with a scooter his dad gave him as a boy.  His passion continued as he worked at Vern’s Bikes and Trikes where he purchased his first Honda Gold Wing.  John loved to be on the open road flying over the pavement on two wheels with Heather by his side.  He was a very social person who enjoyed taking his bike out and meeting up with friends.  Every year John looked forward to Sturgis, and would start a countdown when he got back home.

John was a hardworking and dedicated automotive technician.  John enjoyed the people he worked with at Rochester Ford.  He was a great teacher and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in his department.  Not only was John an excellent technician, but also good at carpentry.  He liked doing projects around the house on the weekend.

He is survived by his wife Heather Link of Kasson, Minn.; daughter Heather Marie (Ben) Broadwater and their daughter Marley of Preston, Minn.; step-sons Wilson and Warren Kerkhoff of Kasson, Minn.; father Orlo Link of Wykoff, Minn.; brother Randy (Mary) Link of Rochester, Minn.; sisters Nancy Link of Zumbrota, Minn., Pam Shaw of Spring Valley, Minn., Shari (Tom) Henderson of Rochester, Minn., and Brenda (Don Fuehrer) Link of Rochester, Minn.; father and mother-in-law Sam and Kathy Evans of Plainview, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Link.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, Minn., with Rev. Deanna Woodward officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Spring Valley, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the John Link Family.
