It was a week of either really good volleyball serving, or suspect serve receive. R-P got 14 aces in beating Houston 3-1. Jaelyn Connaughty had 9 kills, 13 assists, 10 digs, and 9 aces. R-P then beat PEM 3-1 with 16 aces. FC had 14 and 15 aces in wins over Southland and La Crescent. Lexi Thorson had 10 of M-C’s 16 aces in a win over Lanesboro. The Cougars then had 18 aces in a win over L/P. Kingsland had 22 aces, seven each from Ellie Buchholtz and Nora Jahn, in a win over G-E. On the kill-front, Lauren Buchholtz tied a season high with 25, as Kingsland beat Houston. Chatfield volleyball had two busy TRC matches. The Gophers came from down 2-1 to beat La Crescent 3-2. They also played extra volleyball twice in beating PEM 3-1 (25-21, 28-26, 23-25, 29-27). W-K hosted a tourney with four county squads. Lanesboro beat Chatfield and D-E for the consolation title. Peighton Prestemon had 62 digs for the tourney. R-P notably beat FC in pool play (split). The Falcons and Trojans went 2-1 in pools, getting the two and three seeds. Each fell in the first round of the 8-team championship bracket. R-P’s Connaughty was 38-39 serving with 10 aces for the tourney. Six of seven FCJ covered volleyball teams are .500-plus in league play. Volleyball records: #8 in Class A M-C (7-0, 13-1), Houston (5-1, 8-3), FC (3-0, 8-6), R-P (2-2, 9-8), Kingsland (4-2, 6-7), Chatfield (3-1, 4-10), and Lanesboro (0-6, 4-18).
