Spring Grove boys secure another conference crown with wins over Wolverines, Burros

The Spring Grove boys successfully defended their Southeast Conference East Division championship with wins over winless Glenville-Emmons, 91-34, and second-place Lanesboro, 54-40. Spring Grove girls upend league-leading Lanesboro in between Class AA losses

The Spring Grove girls won one game and lost two last week, but the win will be the most remembered. The Lions, on Feb. 4, upset East Division leader Lanesboro, 44-36, the same team that had defeated Spring Grove by 23 points back in December. For the third straight meet, the Warriors achieved their best team score of the season, this time buoyed by an outstanding day in floor exercise. Kingsland girls basketball has won the last two SEC-West titles, capitalizing on Ellie Buchholtz’s junior and senior years. This year, it has had to be a much greater team effort.
