Mabel-Canton Recognized for Bond Sale Success, Approves Budget and Teacher Contract

The Mabel-Canton School Board was formally recognized by Ehlers & Associates during its regularly meeting on June 17, following the successful sale of school building bonds. Jodie Zesbaugh of Ehlers announced the award of the bonds to Baird out of Milwaukee, and the board unanimously approved the resolution ratifying the sale of the building bonds by roll call vote. … [Read more...]

President Stephanie Jaster called the Spring Grove School Board meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. on June 16. No Electric Buses for Lanesboro

Superintendent Matt Schultz informed the Lanesboro School Board that the Federal Electric Bus Grant they had been awarded was cancelled. The school will need to lease a diesel bus for next year. The bus price has gone up $21,000 and will be subject to an additional $7,000 tariff. At the June 5 Houston School Board meeting, Superintendent Mary Morem lauded the three student speakers for the recent graduation ceremonies at MNVA and the three student speakers at Houston High School. Baseball: Warriors Cannot Solve Panthers Puzzle, Fall in 1AA Title Game

It was a tough task from the start. Caledonia baseball (4-seed, 18-7) trekked to Hudson Field in Rochester to play Pine Island (3-seed, 19-5) for the 1AA title game needing to beat the Panthers twice to advance to state. Houston and Kingsland were both repeat champions, joined this spring by Lanesboro and Mabel-Canton, all four winning clay target/trap shooting conference crowns. The 2025 Section 1A track and field meet was marked by a plethora of area athletes making state by standard, particularly from Chatfield and LFCMC. For an 11th straight year, Fillmore Central girls golf is Section 1A champ. The Falcons overcame a four-stroke deficit to Lanesboro after Day 1 to beat the Burros 724 to 738. 1A Girls Golf: Falcon Girls Continue Dynasty With 11th Straight Title For a day, the dynasty was threatened.
