After beating Chatfield in a TRC match in December, it was the next huge conference foe for Cale-donia/Houston wrestling; Dover-Eyota. Chatfield’s girls went 2-1 on the week, beating Waseca 66-62, losing to Cotter 64-67, and beating D-E 60-58. Evy Goldsmith had 20 points and Anna Kivimagi hit two free throws with 0:03 to secure the win versus the Bluejays, Chatfield’s fifth straight. Caledonia girls basketball posted a 2-0 week including passing their last biggest TRC hurdle. The Warriors first easily handled W-K (0-10, 0-17) by a 65-21 final. Visiting state-ranked #11 in A Spring Grove eased past #10 Lyle/Pacelli, 46-40 - the fourth win of the week for the Lions, who had overwhelmed LeRoy-Ostrander twice in two days. Grand Meadow girls basketball had a huge week, knocking off the other three best teams in the SEC. On Monday, #11 in A GM took down Houston (8-2, 8-9). Kingsland and Grand Meadow boys played a SEC match-up that saw 24 combined three-pointers fall! Each squad had a player score 30 points. Fillmore Central football had a shining season. The basketball team is having a good season as well. Brady O’Connor’s Falcons ripped off three 1A wins to run their streak to five. Grand Meadow girls basketball started the season with six wins. Ryan Queensland’s group has won six in a row again. Included were two key 1A wins.
