Fillmore County Journal - Wyatt Cox Obituary

Funeral services for Wyatt Stephen Cox will be held 12  p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Rochester Assembly of God Church, 4240 18th Ave. NW Rochester, Minn. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Please come as you are, no need to dress up, …jeans, boots, leggings; Wyatt would want you to be yourself and be comfortable.

Wyatt Cox, age 25, of Port Charlotte, Fla.,  and formerly of Rochester, Minn., died Tuesday December 26, 2017, at his home in Port Charlotte.

Wyatt was born July 25, 1992, in Rochester. He was the son of Melissa (Heidtke) Cox and Joseph Cox. He attended and graduated from Stewartville High School in 2010. Since graduation Wyatt had been attending RCTC, working to obtain a master’s degree in psychology. Wyatt was a jack of all trades. He started in manufacturing out of high school, and in his early 20s worked with adults with disabilities, most recently in Florida he was working at a restoration company.

Wyatt loved motocross. He loved nature; he loved to hike, be on the water, and at times would love to just get lost in the beauty of what surrounded him while present in nature.  He found joy in exploring and digging, looking for hidden treasures, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his daughter Alyana; from nature hikes to teaching her lessons of life. Wyatt dreamed of getting her to ride a dirt bike. Wyatt spent a lot of free time writing, he used this to express himself and his dreams. He had a heart of gold, and all who knew him knew he would help them in any way he could.

He is survived by his fiancé Cali Miller and their daughter Alyana of Port Charlotte, Fla., his parents, Melissa Cox of Rochester and Joseph Cox of Stewartville; a sister, Shelby Cox of Rochester, maternal grandmother Judy Bly of Grand Meadow, paternal grandparents Michael and Kay Cox of Rochester, aunts Julie (Dave) Wingert of Rochester and Stephanie (James) Stephas of Wykoff and an uncle, Mike Heidtke of Grand Meadow.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Stephen Heidtke and his maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
