Wilbert (Wil) Reinhold Mohlis

Wilbert Mohlis obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Wilbert (Wil) Reinhold Mohlis, aged 95, of Kasson Minn., originally from Spring Valley, passed away on October 17, 2025.

He was born May 7, 1930, in Sumner, Iowa to Frederick and Hulda (Kirchman) Mohlis. He went to school in Waterloo and Cresco, Iowa. Wil met the love of his life, Evelyn Davis, in Cresco while registering for school. Wil and Evelyn were married in Cresco on May 8, 1949. To this union, five children were born. 

Wil worked in plumbing and heating in Cresco and then Spring Valley. He started working for IBM in 1957, retiring in February 1987 after serving 18 years in management with IBM. Wil was very active with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and holding various roles including serving as the president of the church council. Wil was active in the community, working with Kiwanis, Spring Valley Hospital board, Good Earth Village, Friends of Forestville, and SE MN Red Cross board. 

Wil enjoyed helping people, golf, helping people golf, fishing, hunting, walking and hiking. After retirement, Wil and Evelyn loved to travel.

Wil is survived by his children: Connie (Jorge) Vicuna, Sonja (Jim) Hruska, David (Jeanne) Mohlis, Carol (Steve) Aylsworth and Craig (Kim) Mohlis; nine grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, 17 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons. Wil is also survived by his sister Betty and many nieces and nephews.

Wil was preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn, and brothers and their wives, LaVern and Dora and Paul and Motsy. 

Wil’s service will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 25 at 1  p.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
