Fillmore Central volleyball’s season added two more ‘good win’ notches on the belt with victories over La Crescent/Hokah and Stewartville. The Lancers (4-2, 10-2) entered in fourth place behind the third place Falcons (5-1, 13-5) in the TRC standings. FC dropped set three but was dominant in sets two and four. Travis Malley’s Falcons posted a 3-1 win (25-22, 25-10, 20-25, 25-11). Kyla Hellickson (25 digs), Kammry Broadwater (13 kills, 12 digs, 3 aces), Aubrey Daniels (19 assists, 6 digs), and Alyssa Britton (10 kills, 5 digs, 16-16 serving, 2 aces, 4 total blks) led the way. Katie Pickett (17 assists, 9 digs), Izzy Nagel (6 kills), Annika Mensink (5 kills), and Lily Miller (10 digs) made it a team effort. Hellickson has posted double-digit digs in every TRC match. Broadwater has notched double digit kills in every TRC match save one (W-K). The Falcons then notched a rare win over Class AAA Stewartville. The Tigers are not what the Tigers normally are (7-6 record overall), but all over their losses have been to high quality teams (AAAA Mayo, #6 in AAA Byron, #3 in AA Caledonia, AAAA Roseville, #4 in A Mayer Lutheran, and #7 in AAA Kasson-Mantorville). FC added to that with a 3-0 sweep by identical close 25-23 scores. Broadwater (17 kills, 9 digs), Daniels (24 assists, 12 digs), and Hellickson (19 digs) led the way, helped by Pickett (14 assists), Britton (6 kills), Mensink (5 kills), Nagel (4 kills), and Brooklyn Simon (4 kills). Six girls had at least three kills. The Tigers won 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-16) in 2021 and 3-1 (25-9, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19) last year. Seventh-ranked FC (6-1, 15-5) sits in third in the TRC behind #4 in AA Chatfield (6-0, 14-2) and #3 in AA Caledonia (6-0, 16-1).
