After a 1-4 start to the season, Lanesboro volleyball posted a 5-1 on the week, winning two best-of-five affairs in non-sweeping fashion, then going 3-1 at the Waukon Tourney. At LeRoy-Ostrander, the Burros yielded set one (18-25), but fought to close wins in the next three (25-21, 25-21, 27-25) for the 3-1 win. Emma Ruen (7 kills, 15 assists, 16 digs) led the way with help from Jentrey Schreiber (10 kills, 7 digs), Kaylee Gilbertson (12 kills, 7 digs), Prailey Willford (14 digs), and Tenley Qualy (14 assists, 11 digs). Cora Mayer added four kills. The Cardinals got big matches from Vanessa Lewis (39 assists, 17 digs), Madi Stern (16 kills, 13 digs), and Tierney Schulte (22 digs). Mabel Johnson (13 kills, 6 digs), Maria Almaraz-Nolt (6 kills, 12 digs, 7 aces), and Miranda Nagel (6 kills, 10 digs, 3 aces) helped. The Burros then topped neighbor Rushford-Peterson 3-2 in five (26-24, 14-25, 25-12, 20-25, 15-8). Gilbertson (12 kills, 27 digs), Schreiber (10 kills, 25 digs), Mayer (18 kills, 8 total blocks), Qualy (29 assists), and Ruen (6 kills, 10 assists, 21 digs) did work. Willford (18 digs), Irelynn Papenfuss (12 digs), and Charlotte Ferrie (7 digs) helped. Addison Drinkall had 51 digs to lead the Trojans. Kenley Snyder (25 digs) and Grace Ekern (3 kills, 31 assists, 20 digs) each topPED 20 digs, as the Trojans had 145 as a team. Brielle Schneider (9 kills, 11 digs, 19-20 serving, 3 aces), Alannah Skalet (14 digs), Sydney Rye (10 kills, 12 digs), Ariana Bettinger (8 kills), and Morgan Rye (5 kills, 6 digs) helped. The Burros then went 3-1 on the Waukon Tourney, beating Turkey Valley 2-1 (21-14, 16-21, 15-4), Kee High 2-0 (21-10, 21-16), and Riceville 2-0 (21-10, 21-15) before losing to Waukon 0-2 (12-21, 11-21) in the semis. Leaders for the Burros were Willford (38 digs), Ruen (8 kills, 26 assists, 22 digs, 5 aces), Gilbertson (30 kills, 21 digs), Schreiber (14 kills, 23 digs, 5 aces), and Qualy (37 assists). Lanesboro is 3-4 in the SEC, 7-5 overall.
