On March 17, 2018, at approximately 2:44 p.m., the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire at the corner of Courtland St. and Huron Ave (308 W. Courtland) in Spring Valley. Spring Valley Fire, Spring Valley Ambulance, and the Fillmore County Deputy working the City of Spring Valley all responded. Upon arrival, the house was found to be fully engulfed. This house had been vacant and there was no one believed to be inside. Witnesses in the neighborhood relayed information to the deputy that two younger, juvenile aged individuals had been seen around the house shortly before the fire was noticed. An investigation into this information identified a juvenile male and juvenile female who had been in this vacant house before the fire was discovered. The State Fire Marshal was notified and responded to the scene. The investigation into the cause of this fire continues and is being conducted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office.
