Track and Field: RPH, Chatfield and GMLOKS Host Meets

Three “Journal-covered” track and field teams, RPH, GMLOK and Chatfield hosted meets where all five “Journal-covered” programs competed, C/SG at Tro-Canes’ Meet, LFCMC at the Gophers Meet. 

RPH’s event saw the Tro-Cane boys (140) top nearest foe Caledonia/Spring Grove (66). RPH’s girls (91) topped La Crescent/Hokah (67). Triton also competed. Ryan Prinsen (800 > 2:11.61, Pole Vault > 10’6”) and Quintin Betthauser (110-hurdles > 16:01, 300-hurdles > 44.01) led the Tro-Canes with two first places. Brennan Kunst (1,600 > 4:53.68), Aaron Ploetz (3,200 > 10:30.61), the 4×400 (3:49.67 > Caden Mattson, Hunter Rislov, Treyton Hegland, Prinsen) and 4×800 (9:09.89 > Matthew Sprague, Jonah Buchanan, Hegland, Tyler Betthauser) won long runs, an RPH strength. The 4×200 (Mattson, Dave Wallace, Casey Herek, Cadel Carter) also claimed victory. The 4×200 and 4×800 had just three teams. Gregg Gile (Triple Jump > 40’1 ½”) and Chase Drazkowski (Shot Put > 39’11”) added field wins. Herek (110-H, 300-H), Rislov (400), T-Betthauser (800), Carter (P-Vault), Gile (Long Jump), and Q-Betthauser (T-Jump) added second places. For C/SG, Josh Beardmore (100 > 11.34, 200 > 23:01) and Ethan Stendel (High Jump > 5’8”, Long Jump > 18’4 ½”) each won two events. Fischer Wait (400 > 52.19) and Jordan Tornstrom (Discus > 152’2”) also took first. Wait (200) added a second place. C/SG had the top five in the 100 and 200-meter races. Their sprint relays did not run. On the girls’ side, RPH’s Ava Helgemoe (400 > 1:05.85, Triple Jump > 31’8 ½”) and Jorja Meyer (Shot Put > 31’10”, Discus > 103’) won two events. Lauren Honken hit 10’0” to win Pole Vault. Tayler Helgemoe (High Jump > 4’8”), Vada Larson (1,600 > 6:08.06), and the 4×400 (4:33.71 > Honken, A-Helgemoe, Emily Helgemoe, T-Helgemoe) also took first. The 1,600 had just two runners. A-Helgemoe (800) and T-Helgemoe (Long Jump) added seconds. C/SG’s Nicole Banse claimed two individual (100 > 13.83, Long Jump > 15’8 ¾”) and two relay (4×100 > 54:03, 4×200 > 1:53.37) firsts to lead C/SG. Loisah Gay, Sienna Augedahl, and Chloe Lange were her relay teammates. Gay (100) and Lange (200) added second places. 

GMLOK hosted an eight-team meet. The boys squad (227) claimed victory over RACE (77). The girls (207) downed nearest foe Triton (90.25). K-W, BP, Hayfield, L/P and Randolph also competed. Landon Chilman (110-H > 17.18, 300-H > 45.60) swept the hurdles to lead the boys. Nathaniel Drees (400 > 55.68), Tate Georgen (800 > 2:03.21), Carter Glynn (3,200 > 11:14.17), Sam Snitker (H-Jump > 6’4”), Bently Wiersma (L-Jump > 19’8” ½”), and Ayden Howard (T-Jump > 39’7 ¾”) also won events. The 4×100 (46.48 > A-Howard, Beau Wiersma, Zach Reiland, Bently W.), 4×200 (1:41.67 > Chilman, Kaleb Yunker, K.D. Reiland, Bently W.), 800-sprint medley (1:43.14 > A-Howard, Beau W., Reiland, Erik Shaw), and the distance medley (3:57.45 > Beau W. Seth Howard, Glynn, Georgen) relays also took first. Z-Reiland (200), Shaw (800), and A-Howard (Long Jump) added second places. Leading the girls were individual event double winners Chantle Reiland (100 > 12.24, 200 > 26.49) and Lexy Foster (Shot Put > 37’9”, Discus > 105’6”). Gracie Foster (100-hurdles > 16.18), Lauren Queensland (High Jump > 4’10”), and Amelia McCabe (Pole Vault > 7’6”) also took first. The 4×100 (54.81 > Brynlee Koenigs, Brynna Nelson, Keira Stier, Rylee Kleeberger), 4×800 (12:36.18 > Zoe Steinkamp, Sadie Bustad, Grace Soltau, Gretchen Hubka), and 800-sprint medley (2:00.37 > Lydia Redman, G-Foster, Reiland, Nelson) won relay races. Nelson (400), Kleeberger (P-Vault) and G-Foster (Triple Jump) added individual second places.

Chatfield’s combined JV and varsity meet saw the Gopher girls (82) top LFCMC (74) while St. Charles’ guys (156) topped the Burros (72.5). L-A also competed. Jaelyn LaPlante won three individual (100 > 13.10, 200 > 27.27, High Jump > 5’1”) and four total events to pace the Gophers. Savannah Paterson (Long Jump > 15’7”), Chloe Berg (Triple Jump > 31’0”), and the 4×100 (51.04 > Lauryn Daniels, Peterson, Evy Goldsmith, LaPlante) also took first. Peterson (100) and Goldsmith (200) added seconds. Taking first for LFCMC were Olivia Rindels (400 > 1:08.44), Kyla Hellickson (800 > 2:42.57), Autumn Rakosnik (1,600 > 5:41.99), Kinley Soiney (300-hurdles > 50.85), the 4×400 (4:18.97 > Soiney, Aubrey Daniels, Lillyan Kiehne, Kammry Broadwater), and 4×800 (10:31.16 > Sahara Morken, Kiehne, Brooklyn Simon, Broadwater). Broadwater (Discus) added a second place. Kyle Daniels (400 > 55.81), Maddex Rindels (800 > 2:10.84), Boston Wright (Pole Vault > 10’0”), and Lucas Nikoloski (Discus > 142’9”) took first for LFCMC’s boys. Jake Stevens (Shot Put > 46’8 ¾”) had Chatfield’s lone first. Lane Schmaltz took second (Triple Jump), tied for second (Pole Vault), and took third (400). St. Charles’ guys won 13 of 18 events.
