Where We Left off in 2021: Burro teams each took second to GMLOKS at the three-team SEC Meet. Both the girls and boys teams were Section 1A True runner-up. Each qualified for state by “wild card.” The boys took second and the girls third at state True Team. LFCMC sent five individuals and a relay to the individual state meet.

Prognosis: The Burros return seven kids who qualified for state last year. Brielle Ruen qualified in two events (400, 4×400). Madison Simon took fifth in the Pole Vault. The 8th place girls 4×400 completely returns (M. Pickett, L. Kiehne, M. Brogle, B. Ruen). J.T Rein qualified in the 300-hurdles and Jayce Kiehne in the 800. Rein was 1A section 300-meter hurdles champ. Rein (4×100, 4×400), M-Brogle (4×200), and L-Kiehne (5th 1,600) also made last year’s 1A Meet in other events. Will Harvey (4th 110-hurdles, 5th 300-H), Carson Ruen (5th 1,600, 5th 3,200, 4×400), Carter Clarke (4×100, 4×200, 4×400, 8th Long Jump), Seth Semmen (4×100, 4×200, 6th Discus), Lynsey Ruen (6th 300-H), Jacob Peterson (7th Discus), Chase Christianson (High Jump, 400), Luke Ruen (4×400, 4×800), Isaac Snyder (4×800), Kyla Hellickson (High Jump), Jersey Ristau (4×200), Aubrey Daniels (4×200), Lauren Brogle (4×200), Katie Pickett (4×800), Addie Miner (4×800), Brooklyn Simon (4×800), Sahara Morken (4×800), and Ava Jacobsen (Triple Jump) are other 1A Meet qualifiers who return. LFCMC has 31 guys out from the 10th through 12th grades. The girls have just 13 out from the 10th through 12th grades. LFCMC’s boys again look True Team strong.

Where We Left Off in 2021: The Bulldog teams each took first at the three-team SEC Meet. The girls won 1A True Team Section 1A and State Titles. The boys tied for third at the 1A True Team Meet. They qualified by ‘wild card’ for the state True Team, taking third (behind 1A foes Pine Island and LFCMC). GMLOKS had four relay teams and five individuals make the individual state meet including the state champion girls 4×200 team. They sent 16 total kids to last year’s state meet. Three were non-relay double-event qualifiers.

Prognosis: GMLOKS returns 11 kids who qualified for state last year. Included is three-event qualifier, three-event podium maker, Anika Reiland. She took 4th in the 100, 5th in the 200, and was a part of the state champion 4×200 relay. Reiland was Section 1A 100 and 200-meter champ. Chantle Reiland and Anna Oehlke are two other returning members of the champion 4×200. Each ran on the state qualifying 4×100 relays also. Garrison Hubka made state in the 1,600 and 3,200. Hubka was the 1A 3,200-meter champion. The entire Section 1A champion 4×800 (McKenna Hendrickson, Kendyl Queensland, Lauren Queensland, Shelby Beck) is back. Hendrickson also qualified for state in the 800. Riley Paul (Shot Put), Jacob Kerrins (4×200), and James Howard (4×200) also made state. A-Reiland (7th Long Jump), K-Queensland (4×400, 6th High Jump, 7th 800), Beck (6th Pole Vault, 4×400), C-Reiland (7th 100), Kerrins (4×100, 4×200, 4×400), Howard (4×100, 4×200, 4×400, High Jump), Hendrickson (4×400), and L-Queensland (1,600) participated in other events at the 1A Meet. Kaylin Mensink (400, 4×400), Naomi Warmka (1,600, 3,200), Emma Lewison (300-hurdles), Becca Hoffman (5th Discus), Lexy Foster (5th Shot, Discuc), Katelyn Hauser (100-hurdles), Christian Luthe (5th Shot, Discus), Cam Ruechel (4×400), Andrew Imm (4×800), Brendan Kennedy (4×800), and Erik Shaw (4×800) are other returning 1A qualifiers. The GMLOKS girls have 22 and the boys 23 kids out from 10th-12th grades. Both teams again look strong.

Where We Left Off in 2021: The Gophers boys and girls each took fourth (of 10) at the TRC Meet. The Gopher girls took third at the 1A True Team meet, the boys fifth (of 15). The girls qualified for the state True Team Meet by ‘wild card.’ They took 11th place (of 12). Two individuals qualified for state including one in two events.

Prognosis: Chatfield’s two 2021 state qualifiers return. Speedster Sam Backer took 5th in the 100 and 8th in the 200. Thrower Zayda Priebe took 9th in the Discus. Backer was 1A Meet 100-meter champ. Backer also qualified for the 1A Meet in the 4×100. Isaac Erding (4×100, 4×200, Pole Vault), Eli Hopp (4×100, 4×200), Logan Thompson (1,600, 4×800), Adia Evans (400, 4×400), Anna Kivimagi (4×400, High Jump), Lauren Cole (4×100, 4×200), Evy Goldsmith (4×100, 4×400), Tessa McMahon (6th 1,600), Aletta Strande (7th 3,200), Chloe Berg (4×100), Jaelyn LaPlante (4×200), Cole Johnson (4×200), Nevada Lueck (Long Jump), Gabe Erding (4×800), Adam Pagnano (4×800), and Emma Mulhern (Pole Vault) are other returnees who participated in last year’s 1A Meet. Erding, Hopp, and Backer comprise three-fourths of last year’s 1A 4th place 4×100. I-Erding, Backer, and Evans comprise three-fourths of last year’s TRC meet champion boy’s 4×100. Priebe is the defending TRC Meet discus champion. LaPlante, Goldsmith, and Cole comprise three-fourths of last year’s TRC meet champion girl’s 4×100 team. Chatfield has 24 girls and 14 guys out grades 10th through 12th. They have the numbers and the talent to be strong.

Prognosis: Chris Pieper returns after having made state in the High Jump (6th place). He also qualified for sections in the Long Jump. He is the defending TRC Meet High Jump champion. Reid Bjerke (5th 100, 4th 200, 4×100), Fischer Wait (400, 4×200), Hunter Holland (4×100), and Eric Mauss (4×100) also return after qualifying for last year’s 1A Meet. The boys have 18 and the girls just four out in grades 10th through 12th.
