Boasting a pair of teams that each made last year’s state True Team meet, and boasting all kinds of numbers, GMLOKS track and field started its outdoor season with two first place finishes at the nine-team Hayfield Invite. The guys (201 points) topped nearest foe Pine Island (184.5) for that title. On the girls’ side, the Bulldogs and Panthers tied for first place (162.5). NRHEG’s boys (100) and girls (120) were distant thirds. Kenyon-Wanamingo, Medford, Blooming Prairie, Hayfield, Randolph, and Lyle/Pacelli also competed. Overall, GMLOKS relays did very well. All eight finished either first or second. The guys were led by their distance runners. Nathaniel Drees (400 > 53.85), Tate Georgen (800 > 2:08.41) and Carter Glynn (1,600 > 5:14.09) all won an event. The 4×400 (3:44.83 > Glynn, Erik Shaw, Georgen, Drees) and 4×800 teams (8:37.08 > Shaw, Glynn, Georgen, Drees) also each took first. Shaw added a third place (800). Posting field first place finishes were Beau Wiersma (Long Jump > 20’2”), Sam Snitker (High Jump > 6’6”), and Brede Nelsen (Pole Vault > 10’). Snitker tied his GMLOKS program record high jump mark. Landen Chilman (Long Jump), Wiersma (200), the 4×100 (K.D. Reiland, Wiersma, Chilman, Ethan Schammel), and 4×200 teams (Kaleb Yunker, Nelsen, Bently Wiersma, Schammel) each took second. Chilman (110-hurdles, 300-hurdles) added two thirds. Bentley W. added a third place (Long Jump). GMLOKS went 1-2-3 in that event. On the gal’s side, Lexy Foster (Shot Put > 37’10 ½”, Discus > 112’) won two individual events. Chantle Reiland (200 > 26.6), Gracie Foster (100-hurdles > 16.57), and Breeley Galle (Triple Jump > 33’7 ½”) also won events while the 4×100 (55.05 > Avery Stroup, Kailyn Schneider, Brynna Nelson, Emma Lewison), 4×200 (1:50.18 > Reiland, G-Foster, Lydia Redman, Galle), and 4×400 teams (4:29.15 > Reiland, Galle, G-Foster, Lauren Queensland) also tasted victory. Reiland, Galle, and G-Foster thus had three firsts each. The 4×800 (Zoe Steinkamp, Naomi Warmka, Queensland, Grace Soltau) took second. G-Foster (Triple Jump), Warmka (1,600), and Lewison (300-hurdles) added third places.
