GMLOKS and LFCMC Teams Make True Team State

GMLOKS and LFCMC’s boys and girls track and field teams, per their performances at the 1A True Team Meet, are all again state bound. Aaron Thauwald’s GMLOKS girls (1140) beat nearest foe St. Charles (1057) to win a fifth straight 1A title. Cotter (1045) took third, LFCMC (1022) fourth, Chatfield (954.5) sixth, and RPH (731.5) tenth of 21 teams. Lori Anderson’s Burros earned a seventh straight state bid via a fourth place Wild Card finish. Chantle Reiland had three top two (1st 100 > 12.63; 1st 200 > 26.23; 2nd 400) and four top seven finishes (7th Long Jump) while Lexy Foster won both throws (Shot Put > 38’5 ¾”, Discus > 109’11”) to lead GMLOKS. Breeley Galle had a first (300-hurdles > 48.24), a second (100-hurdles), and a seventh (Triple Jump). Gracie Foster (3rd 100-H, 6th T- Jump) had two top six finishes. Nevaeh Shaw (4th) and Lauren Queensland (5th-tie) held down the High Jump. Amelia McCabe (7th Pole Vault) and Naomi Warmka (10th 800) also finished top 10. The 4×200 (Lydia Redman, Brynna Nelson, Rylee Holst, Kiera Stier) took fourth. Kammry Broadwater had three individual top ten finishes (3rd Discus, 5th T-Jump, 9th 400) for LFCMC. The 4×800 (Kyla Hellickson, Eliza Cullen, Brooklyn Simon, Sahara Morken) took third, the 4×400 (Morken, Lillyan Kiehne, Simon, Broadwater) fifth. Kiehne (8th 800, 9th 1,600) added two top 10s. Elizabeth Clarke (4th-tie P-Vault), Bailey Erwin (7th Shot), Aubrey Daniels (8th T-Jump), Autumn Rakosnik (8th 1,600), Charity Kingsley (8th 3,200), and Kinley Soiney (9th Discus) also finished top 10. Chatfield was led by Jaelyn LaPlante (2nd H-Jump, 5th 100, 8th 200) and Savannah Peterson (4th 100, 5th L-Jump, 9th 200). Lexi Kivimagi (4th 800, 5th 1,600) had two top 5s. The 4×200 (Lauryn Daniels, Breah Schlink, Evy Goldsmith, LaPlante) took second, the 4×100 (Chloe Berg, Goldsmith, Schlink, Daniels) fourth. Charlotte Oeltjen (6th 3,200) and Rebecca Copeman (8th-tie P-Vault) also finished top 10. Aubry Boldt (1st 100-H > 16.26, 1st L-Jump > 17’8”, 3rd T-Jump) had three top 3s to lead RPH. Lauren Honken won the Pole Vault (9’6”). Jorja Meyer (3rd Shot, 8th Discus) had two top 10s. Tayler Helgemoe (9th L-Jump) and Ava Helgemoe (10th T-Jump) also finished top 10.

On the guys’ side, St. Charles (1198.5) won the section over LFCMC (1150), GMLOKS (1099), and RPH (1090.5) while Chatfield (721) took 10th of 21 teams. Per second and fourth place Wild Card finishes, Alex Aiken’s LFCMC group and Rebecca Young’s GMLOKS squad each made state, doing so sixth and fourth years in a row respectively. The Burros were led by Jayce Kiehne’s two first places (800 > 1:58.09, 1,600 > 4:30.08). It was his first 1,600-meter this year. Boston Wright tied for first in the Pole Vault (11’6”). Lucas Nikoloski (2nd Discus, 8th Shot), Brody Niemeyer (4th Shot), and Michael Rein (4th Discus) held down the throws. Henry Liew (2nd T-Jump, 10th L-Jump), Greg Kennedy (6th 200, 8th T-Jump), and Will Harvey (8th 110-H, 8th 300-H) had two individual top 10s. The 4×400 (Isaac Snyder, Luke Ruen, Kyle Daniels, Kiehne) took second, the 4×800 (Jaxon Huntington, Maddex Rindels, Daniels, Ruen) fourth, and the 4×200 (Mason Howard, Davis Penhollow, Liew, Snyder) fifth. Riley Grant (8th 3,200), Howard (8th 400), Snyder (9th 800), Ruen (9th 1,600), and Parker Krage (9th P-Vault) also finished top 10. Leading GMLOKS were Tate Georgen (3rd 800, 3rd 1,600) and Kaleb Yunker (2nd 300-H, 5th 110-H). Sam Snitker (2nd High Jump) and Ayden Howard (3rd T-Jump) finished top three. Landon Chilman (3rd 300-H, 9th 110-H) and Beau Wiersma (6th L-Jump, 8th 200) had two top 10’s. The 4×200 (Howard, Bently Wiersma, Zach Reiland, Nathaniel Drees) and 4×400 (Drees, Erik Shaw, Seth Howard, Georgen) each took third, the 4×100 (Beau W., Chilman, K.D. Reiland, Howard) fifth. Brede Nelson (8th) and Dylan Schultz (10th-tie) were top ten vaulters. Bently W. (9th L-Jump) and Carter Glynn (10th 3,200) also finished top 10. RPH was led Quintin Betthauser’s two firsts (110-H > 16.15; 300-H > 42.69). Gregg Gile won the Triple Jump (40’4 ½”). Ryan Prinsen (800, P-Vault) had two fourth places. Casey Herek (3rd 110-H, 9th 300-H), Chace Drazkowski (3rd Discus, 9th Shot) and Aaron Ploetz (5th 3,200, 7th 1,600) had two top 10s. The 4×800 (Tyler Betthauser, Isaac Rasmussen, Matthew Sprague, Prinsen) took second, the 4×400 (Q-Betthauser, Treyton Hegland, Hunter Rislov, Prinsen) fifth. Matthew Hengel (7th Discus), Rislov (7th 400), T-Betthauser (8th 800), and Alex Wedl (10th H-Jump) also finished top 10. Chatfield’s Callen Backer won the Shot Put (44’9”) and Jake Stevens finished sixth. Keegan Patten (6th 300-H, 7th 110-H) had two top 10s. Vaulters Lane Schmaltz (6th) and Zach Whalen (7th) finished top 10. Events each had 30 to 40 athletes, relays 15-20 teams.

Track and Field: Titles Won and Records Set at TRC Meet

C/SG, Chatfield, and RP/H joined their seven other league equals to take on the TRC Meet. Titles were won and numerous records broke. St. Charles’ boys (186) topped RPH (153), Cotter (150), and C/SG (139). The Warriors broke multiple records. Josh Beardmore won the 100 (10.92) and the Long Jump (21’0”), Fischer Wait the 200 (22.24) and 400 (49.61), Ethan Stendel (6’4”) the High Jump. The 4×100 (43.25 > Eli Staggemeyer, Gabe Curley, Owen Staggemeyer, Beardmore) and 4×200 (1:29.52 > Staggemeyer, Staggemeyer, Beardmore, Wait) also grabbed titles. Wait (200, 400), the 4×100, and 4×200 set TRC and school records, Beardmore (100) a TRC record. Jordan Tornstrom took second in the Discus (161’11”), breaking a school record (by over 9’0”). Curley (100) added a second place, Stendel (300-hurdles) and O-Staggemeyer (200) third places. For RPH, Quintin Betthauser swept the hurdles (110-H > 15.56; 300-H > 42.81), Gregg Gile (39’11”) won the Triple Jump, and Ryan Prinsen the 800 (2:00.25). Prinsen (Pole Vault), Aaron Ploetz (1,600) and the 4×400 (Q-Betthauser, Treyton Hegland, Hunter Rislov, Prinsen) took second. Chace Drazkowski (Shot Put, Discus) and Casey Herek (300-H) took third. Chatfield was led by Jake Stevens (2nd Shot) and Lane Schmaltz (3rd P-Vault). On the girls’ side, Cotter (174) topped St. Charles (135.5) with the Gophers (96) taking fifth, RPH (93.5) sixth, and C/SG tenth. Chatfield’s 4×100 (50.47) and 4×200 (1:47.33 > both Lauryn Daniels, Savannah Peterson, Evy Goldsmith, Jaelyn LaPlante) took first, each setting a TRC record. LaPlante added a first (High Jump > 5’2”), tying a Gopher record, and a second (200). Lexi Kivimagi won the 800 (2:27.05). Goldsmith (100) and Charlotte Oeltjen (3,200) took third. Aubry Boldt (100-H > 15.86, Triple Jump > 35’9 ¼”) had two titles and a second (L-Jump) to lead RPH. Lauren Honken won the Pole Vault (11’0”), breaking her own RPH record (10’6”). Tayler Helgemoe (L-Jump, High Jump – tie) and Jorja Meyer (Shot, Discus) each had a third and a fourth place. Nicole Banse took third (200) and fifth (L-Jump) to lead C/SG. Wait (200, 400), Boldt (100-H, T-Jump), C/SGs boys sprint relays, Chatfield’s girls sprint relays, and Kivimagi (800) won the same events a year ago.

Track Field (5/10) SEC Meet

(GMLOKS’ girls (103) topped LFCMC (62). GMLOKS’ boys (87) topped LFCMC (73). L/P also competed. GMLOKS girls’ firsts: C. Reiland (100 > 12.61; 200 > 26.83; L-Jump > 16’5”), Breeley Galle (300-H > 49.73; T-Jump > 33’6 ½”), Lexy Foster (Shot > 42’4”; Discus > 114”), Gracie Foster (100-H > 15.18), Naomi Warmka (1,600 > 5:44.77), Lauren Queensland (H-Jump > 4’11”), and the 4×200 (1:49.94 > Reiland, G-Foster, Lydia Redman, Galle). LFCMC girls’ firsts: Olivia Rindels (400 > 1:08.68), Grace Kingsley (3,200 > 13:29.18), Elizabeth Clarke (P-Vault > 8’6”), the 4×100 (53.80 > Charlotte Ferrie, Kinley Soiney, Sari Rein, Bailey Erwin), the 4×400 (4:22.71 > Soiney, Aubrey Daniels, Lillyan Kiehne, Kammry Broadwater), and the 4×800 (10:58.07 > G-Kingsley, Brooklyn Simon, Sahara Morken, Eliza Cullen). GMLOKS boys’ firsts: Zach Reiland (200 > 24.55), Nathaniel Drees (400 > 55.08), Erik Shaw (800 > 2:15.30), Carter Glynn (1,600 > 5:05.48), Kaleb Yunker (300-H*** > 44.41), Ayden Howard (L-Jump – tie > 18’7 ½”; T-Jump > 37’0”), the 4×100 (46.70 > Howard, Tate Georgen, Z-Reiland, K.D. Reiland), and the 4×800 (9:01.78*** > Dylan Schultz, Shaw, Beck Warren, Glynn). LFMC boys’ firsts: Michael Rein (100 > 11.95), Will Harvey (110-H > 16.43), Greg Kennedy (H-Jump > 5’9”), Boston Wright (P-Vault > 10’6”), Brody Niemeyer (Shot > 44’1”), Lucas Nikoloski (Discus > 133.4”), the 4×200 (1:34.81 > Mason Howard, Kennedy, Luke Ruen, Jayce Kiehne), 4×400 (3:35.94 > Maddex Rindels, Davis Penhollow, Kyle Daniels, Kiehne). ***Only three competitors/teams in event)
