Todd Holm, 59, of Preston, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1967, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn.
Todd was a man who felt most at home with a fishing line in the water, a rifle in hand, or a campfire crackling nearby. If the destination was outdoors, Todd was along for the ride.
After graduating high school, Todd answered the call to serve his country, spending six years in the Army. It was during that time, in the beauty of Hawaii, that he crossed paths with the woman who would become his greatest adventure. He and Kimberly fell in love, moved to El Paso, Tex., and began building their life. First opening a restaurant and then welcoming their children before eventually settling into the beautiful south east corner of Preston, Minn.
Todd spent much of his career as a welder and fabricator, taking pride in building things that lasted. In his later years, he found purpose serving others as part of the team at the Minnesota State Veterans Home – Preston, bringing that same dedication to those who had given so much.
Todd celebrated his 59th birthday just two days before his passing – surrounded, we hope, by the people and pets he loved most.
Todd is survived by his beloved wife Kimberly Holm, his son Montgomery (Kelly) Holm, and his daughter Cassandra (AJ) Koran. Also survived by sisters Shannon Nelson and Vickie (Bob) Nelson; brothers Rick (Cathy) Nelson, Jeffrey (Jay) Nelson, and Jerry (Carrie) Nelson, and brother from the Army, John (Heidi) Vars; and multitudes of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Preceded in death by his mother Gloria Nelson and stepfather Jon Nelson.
Todd will be deeply missed by all who knew him but those who loved him best know exactly where to find him in spirit: somewhere out in the woods, on the water, or under an open sky.
