Caledonia (14-1, 24-4) won the TRC East softball title ahead of Winona-Cotter (12-3, 17-8), La Crescent/Hokah (8-7, 10-11), Lewiston-Altura (6-9, 12-12), Rushford-Peterson (2-13, 6-15), and Fillmore Central/Lanesboro (0-15, 4-17) while Dover-Eyota (11-3, 15-8) took the East over Chatfield (9-5, 15-9), St. Charles (9-5, 14-11), Wabasha-Kellogg (6-8, 15-11), and PEM (3-11, 5-16). The Warriors wound up as Section 1AA runner-up, handing state champion Randolph its only loss. Wabasha-Kellogg was the 1A runner-up. Caledonia gets seven first team All-TRC selections, seniors Braelyn Lange (P/SS), Kennedy Hansen (LF), Annah Anderson (RF), and freshmen Elsa Blum (1B), Avery Augedahl (P/SS), Adrienne Lange (C), and Paizley Lange (3B). B-Lange had a huge senior year on the mound (14-3 record, 110 2/3 IP, 67 H, 48 R, 20 ER, 54 BBs, 169 Ks, 1.265 ERA) whilst surpassing 300 career strikeouts. She also hit .314 with 10 extra base hits (six 2Bs, two 3Bs, two HR), 26 RBI, and 22 runs scored. Blum led the team in hitting (.534), extra base hits with 20 (13 2Bs, three 3Bs, four HR), and RBIs (34) while tying for a team second-best 33 runs scored. Her on base was .598, slugging .886, and OPS (on-base-plus-slugging) 1.484. Each made All-Section and Class AA All-State Honorable Mention. Lange got to play on the All-Star team. She was All-TRC honorable mention last year. Augedahl also made All-Section after joining B-Lange in doing double-duty; pitching, and hitting. The frosh was 10-1 on the mound (43 H, 27 R, 10 ER, 16 BB, 87 K, 1.082 ERA) while hitting a team second-best .443. She had a team-best six home runs and seven triples amongst her 17 extra base-hits, whilst driving in 27 runs and scoring a team best 38 times. She struck out just seven times in 109 plate appearances. Anderson (.427 average, ten 2B, four HR’s, 28 R) was second on the team with 30 RBIs. A-Lange (.390 average, ten 2Bs, four 3Bs, two HR, 21 RBIs) tied for second on the team with 33 runs scored. P-Lange (.400 average, six 2Bs, four HR, 24 RBIs, 29 R) and Hansen (.376 average, seven 2Bs, 23 RBI, 25 R) gave the Warriors six All-TRC picks who hit above .350 with at least seven extra base hits (a crazy number). As a team, the Warriors smacked 25 home runs. Making All-TRC HM for Caledonia are Aubrie Klug (So. CF > .432 average, seven 2Bs, 9 RBI, 21 R) and Vivian Kittleson (Fr. 2B > .316 average, five 2B, two HR, 15 RBI, 20 R). Said girls helped the Warriors to arguably their best season ever. Making All-TRC for Chatfield are Alexis Hinckley (Sr. C), Makenna Dornack (Fr. SS), Rylee Urban (Fr. P) and Katryn Johnson (Jr. P/IF). Dornack heads the cast, as she earned Class AA All State Second team. The freshman led Chatfield in hitting (.474 average), on base percentage (.583), runs scored (42) and tied for the team-lead in doubles (11). She also hit two triples and a home run and a had a team-second best-tying 24 RBIs. She was All-TRC HM last year. Hinckley earned her fourth All-TRC honor, a rare feat. She led the Gophers in home runs (5) and RBIs (34) while tying for the team-lead in doubles (11), and hitting a team second-best .457. Hinckley is Class AA All-State Honorable Mention. Both Dornack and Hinckley had splendid OPS’ (on-base plus slugging) of 1.25-plus. Each was All-Section. Urban (103 2/3 IP, 11-6 record, 96 H, 57 R, 28 ER, 26 BBs, 121 Ks, 1.891 ERA) was the Gophers top pitcher. Johnson (42 1/3 IP, 4-3 record, 32 H, 36 R, 15 ER, 26 BB, 48 K, 2.48 ERA) also pitched while contributing offensively (.303 average, two HR, 17 RBIs, 16 Rs). Making All-TRC HM for the Gophers’ are Brynn Horsman (So. OF > .316 average, 11 RBI, 15 R), Brittin Ruskell (Jr. 2B > .338 average, six doubles, 24 RBI, 22 R), and Grace Finley (So. OF > .304 average, 10 RBI, 8 R). Rushford-Peterson gets one All-TRC pick in Cassandra Boyum (Sr. CF). She led the Trojans in hitting (.426 average), RBI (16), and runs scored (20) while tying for the team lead in extra base hit with nine (six 2Bs, two 3Bs, HR). Ellie Ekern (Sr. SS > .323 average, 14 RBI, 15 R) and Shelby Tesch (So. P/OF > .311 average, six 2Bs, two 3Bs, HR, 19 R) made All-TRC HM. Fillmore Central/Lanesboro did not have an All-TRC or All-TRC HM selection.
Southeast All-Conference Softball
Southland (13-1, 17-5) won the Southeast Conference in softball with Houston (12-2, 14-9) taking second, Mabel-Canton (9-5, 10-10) third, GMLOK (8-6, 9-12) fourth, and Spring Grove (7-7, 7-13) fifth. Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger (3-11, 4-16), Schaeffer Academy (3-11, 3-16), and Lyle/Pacelli (1-13, 1-19) rounded out the league standings. The Hurricanes equaled the Rebels in getting a league-high five All-SEC selections. Emily Botcher (Jr. P), Julia Swenson (Fr. 2B), Olivia Yohe (So. SS), Kylie Stinson (7th grader utility), and Rylee Boldt (Fr. 1B) make the cut. Botcher and Yohe each repeat. Swenson earned the highest honor, as she was Class A All-State Honorable Mention. She hit a team-best .522 with team-highs in doubles (11), RBIs (28), and runs scored (37).
The freshman added three triples and had an on-base percentage of .609. Botcher was the Hurricanes’ busy main pitcher (133 1/3 IP, 14-7 record, 121 H, 92 R, 34 ER, 54 BBs, 151 Ks, 1.78 ERA) while adding offensive stats (.343 average, 12 RBI, 13 R). Yohe oddly had zero doubles but a team-best eight triples and a home run plus 14 RBI and a team second-best 31 runs. Stinson was impressive for just a seventh grader, hitting a team-second best .462 with a team-second-best 27 RBI plus seven doubles and 23 runs. Boldt hit .357 with 11 RBI and 13 runs. Caitlin Brand (Jr C > .343 average, 11 R) earned All-SEC HM. Said girls helped the Hurricanes again contend for the SEC title. Mabel-Canton gets two picks, the battery of Tylar Wenthold (So. P) and Kira Snyder (Jr. C). Wenthold repeated as making All-SEC while Snyder was All-SEC HM last year. Wenthold pitched 111 of 117 1/3 innings for the Cougars (10-9 record, 95 H, 89 R, 40 ER, 58 BBs, 2.52 ERA) with an impressive 180 strikeouts. She also hit a team second-best .333 (five 2Bs, 12 RBI). Snyder was the team’s top hitter (.433 average, 14 RBI). Neither accrued much for runs as they had courtesy runners. Kailey Ingvalson (Jr. SS > three 3Bs, team second-best 13 RBI, team-high-tying 17 runs) made All-SEC HM. GMLOKS’ two All-SEC selections are Lucie Voigt (Sr. SS) and Aspen Kolling (Jr. P). Each repeated in making All-SEC. Voigt earned Class AA All-State 2nd team, joining Chatfield’s Makenna Dornack of “Journal-covered” players to earn such a high honor. She was credited with hitting a team-best .533. Voigt had eight doubles, five triples, three home runs, 17 RBI, and 30 runs, all of which led the team. Her on-base-percentage was also .632 and her on-base-plus-slugging was 1.615. She struck out just three times in 76 plate appearances. Kolling pitched 113 of 124 2/3 inning for the team (7-11 record, 127 H, 92 R, 62 ER, 72 BBs, 134 Ks, 4.94 ERA) while also a hitting a team second-best .382 (team second-best 16 RBI, team-high-tying 13 R). Cheyenne Bakken (So. C > 12 RBI, 11 R) made All-SEC HM for a second straight year. Spring Grove has two All-SEC honorees, Emerson Ingvalson (Jr. 3B) and Jada Strinmoen (Fr. CF). Strinmoen had team-highs with 23 runs scored and 15 stolen bases while sharing the lead with 17 base hits. She ranked third with a .283 batting average and was the only outfielder among 19 All-SEC selections. Ingvalson ranked second on the team with 12 runs batted in while batting .281. Katelyn Kraus (Sr. SS) received HM All-SEC, leading the Lions with 15 RBI and 14 walks while sharing the lead with four doubles. Making All-SEC for Southland were Laney Weis (Fr. P), Clara Timm (Fr. C), Kiley Koenigs (Fr. DP), Haylee Lowe (Fr. 3B), and Shannon Kiefer (So. SB). G-E/AC’s Libby Bell (Jr. SS), Schaeffer’s Halle Morgan (Sr. C), and L/P’s McKenzie Schaefer (So. P) also made All-SEC.
