Team scores consistent for Cal/SG gymnasts

Braelyn Lange earned the highest score on the balance beam and the Caledonia/Spring Grove gymnasts (2-8) posted their second-best team score of the season, 114.575, during a March 2 home gymnastics dual meet ,with Stewartville, which earned a team score of 126.500. Then on Friday, March 5, the Warriors logged a team total of 113.975 while home team La Crescent-Hokah posted a 128.125.

Against Stewartville, Lange placed third in all-around at 31.425 and seventh grader Macy Kraus fifth (28.575). Top five finishes included Lange with the top score on beam – a season-best 8.425 with Sabrina Lisota fifth (7.450). On vault, Brianna Johnson was second (8.350) and Lange fifth (8.050). Lange was fourth in floor exercise (7.800) and fifth on the uneven parallel bars.

“We were happy to have Macy and Brianna back (from injury) on all four events for varsity tonight,” said coach Savana Kettner. “We are proud to see our score continue to hold steady, week to week. “

At La Crescent-Hokah, Lange was fourth all-around (29.950), Kraus fifth (28.850) and Johnson seventh (28.125). Best placements came on beam with Kraus second (7.350) and Lange third (7.3425). Johnson took third on vault (8.175) while Lange placed fifth on both bars (7.025) and on the floor (7.750).

“We as coaches are happy to see our score hold steady for the second meet of the week,” said Kettner. “We are ready to get back in the gym and continue to work hard on the details for the final two weeks of season.”
