The girls basketball season starts with a bunch of voids to be filled. A ton a talent including seven All-Conference picks graduated last year. Five of seven FCJ covered schools lost (multiple) high-profile, experienced players, including two all-time leading scorers. The last county girls basketball team left standing last season were the Fillmore Central Falcons. In … [Read more...]

Superintendent Chuck Ehler reiterated that concerns were incorporated when the new guidelines were drafted. The program was … [Read more...]
Volleyball Post-Season Awards
It was another good year for the spikers and diggers. This year’s All-Conference volleyball teams are dominated by players from the two best squads in the county, Mabel-Canton and Fillmore Central. For the first time this decade, no one made All-State though. Nine girls have done so since 2010; R-P’s Kenzie Lind (2010 HM), M-C’s Belle Sand (2011/2012 HM, 2013 1st Team), … [Read more...]

Jake Paulson (4-66, 2 TDs receiving), Landon Skalet (7-8, 88 yards, 2 TDs passing), Ethan Hermanson … [Read more...]

Ground Tops Air, R-P Over BP
It was a contrast in styles, as #9 R-P (6-1) and #8 BP (6-1) met to conclude the regular season. Davin Thompson and his coaching staff turned to a 5’7” 160-pound junior and he delivered mammothly. The teams went up and down, R-P run-based with a wishbone, BP pass-based with a spread. Trojan Ethan Sense had a huge first 15 minutes (161 yards, 3 TDs rushing). R-P staved off … [Read more...]

Trojans “Return” to Win Column
In week six, R-P play-maker Jake Paulson was held in check both by a superb Goodhue team and the weather. The senior went without a reception for the first time all season. Versus Hayfield in week seven, Paulson avoided pass defenses. He circumvented them, returning two punts for TDs (90 yards, 53 yards). He also led R-P in rushing (5-70), helping the #9 in Class A Trojans … [Read more...]

Week six football had two top 10 battles. For their homecomings, R-P (#1 in Class A, 5-0) hosted Goodhue (#4 in Class A, 5-0) and Houston (#3 in 9-Man, 5-0) hosted Spring Grove (#1 in 9-Man, 5-0). The home teams had to eat onions in tough losses. Their football gear absorbed mud, following two rain-soaked sludge-fests. ‘Canes Foiled by Folz and Company It wasn’t one … [Read more...]
