Fillmore County Journal - High School Volleyball

October 14, 2019 by Paul Trende

Fillmore County Journal - High School Volleyball

The streak continues.  Maybe it’ll end someday.  Someday.  Mabel-Canton volleyball (10-0, 26-2) went through its two nearest foes in the standings to shore up a 22nd straight shared or out-right SEC title.  And while each Cougar has plenty of volleyball skill (as always), junior setter Kenidi McCabe led the way.  Virtuoso is a decent word to describe the 5’4” junior.  In the … [Read more...]

Morken Gets 700th, Cougars Win Decorah Invite

October 7, 2019 by Paul Trende

Mabel-Canton volleyball coach Lonnie Morken entered the year with 679 career wins.  Given the Cougars almost never stray below 25 wins in a season, 700 was just a matter of time.  He entered the week of Monday September 23 just three short.  M-C (18-2) won two SEC matches.  Kingsland fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-15).  Kenidi McCabe authored a triple-double (10 kills, 12-12 … [Read more...]

September 30, 2019 by Paul Trende

Every other county team, and most other teams’ period, had long since lost.  Mabel-Canton volleyball made it through about the first month of the season without a defeat, starting the year 17-0.  The week of September 16 featured a couple more ho-hum SEC wins, then a serious bump in competition, the Class A Showcase.  The Cougars easily dropped Lyle/Pacelli and Houston in … [Read more...]
