Kingsland preps for 2017-18 year

Fillmore County Journal - Kingsland Knights - Spring Valley

A regular meeting of the Kingsland School Board was held June 19.  Members in attendance were Ann Oeltjen, Jackie Horsman, Tiffany Mundfrom, and Heather Betts, along with Superintendent John McDonald.  Doug Plaehn and Deb Larson were absent, so Oeltjen led the meeting.  No visitors had signed up to address the board. Sauer Starts, Broadwater Ends Strong at Boys State Golf

While the Fillmore Central girls’ team was a big story at state golf, an individual Falcon also wrote a great narrative, at least for the first 18 holes.   Senior Delton Sauer went out and shot a 38 and a 39 to start the state meet.  His 77 had him sitting tied for fifth overall after Day One.  He was one of just four golfers with two sub-40 scores Day One.  It was his best … [Read more...]

Falcon Boys Section Runner-Up, Broadwater/Sauer Make State

On the guys’ side of things, Fillmore Central (367) sat in second place behind Blooming Prairie (342) after Day One.  The Falcons shot a better Day Two score (357), but couldn’t make up the difference.  BP (342/339 > 681) was crowned Section 1A champion.  FC (367/357 > 724) beat out Lewiston-Altura (374/351 > 725) for Runner-Up.  Individually, two county athletes … [Read more...]

Section 1A Meet – Day One (FC girls (358) lead Caledonia (388) of five complete teams (after 18 holes).  Falcons Grace Miller (82), Madison Scheevel (86), and Tayah Barnes (89) are 1-2-3.  Lanesboro’s Payton Benson (100) is tied for 9th.   FC’s Cailey Rindels (101) is tied for 11th.   Because of low numbers, all girls advance to Day Two.  BP’s boys (342) lead FC (367) and L-A … [Read more...]

Three county baseball teams have made it to Memorial Day.  In the 1AA East quarters, FC/L (2-seed, 16-4) beat Cotter (7-seed, 10-10).  Josh Peters (3-3, RBI, R), Logan Corson (2-3, 2 RBI, R), Sam Rustad (2-2, 2B, RBI, 2 R), and Collin Scott (6 2/3 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K Win, 1-3, RBI) led the way.  In the semis, the Falcons played an epic with La Crescent (3-seed, 14-7).  … [Read more...]
