Knight Girls Start 6-2
Three years ago, Jake Vetter took over the Kingsland girls basketball program. He pretty much used sophomores across the board. Those girls are now seniors. The Knights, courtesy of three straights wins where no foe scored 40 points, are off to a 6-2 start to the season. Kingsland beat Chatfield 59-23. Gracie Schmidt (12 pts, 4-6 FGs), Lauren Buchholtz (10 pts, 3 stls), … [Read more...]
Fossum/Hompe Hit for 48 in Gopher Win
It’d been quite some time since Gopher classmates Parker Fossum and Alex Hompe played high school basketball together. Injury annulled last year’s junior season completely for Hompe, partially for Fossum. Fossum was on varsity sophomore year. In game three of their senior seasons, the duo made up for lost time, putting on an efficiency clinic versus Kingsland. Hompe, a 6’2” … [Read more...]

Knight Boys Hold Off Burros
Hopefully, by each team’s offensive displays, they’ll each have solid years. Kingsland’s boys played at Lanesboro in a game of individual scoring spurts, a contest that pry was too close for comfort for the winners. Kingsland senior Zach Buchholtz was aggressive early, scoring 13 of the Knights’ first 17 points. The fighting John Fenske’s jumped out 17-10. But a 10-3 Burro run … [Read more...]

M-C Girls Stun R-P
Sports and injuries are synonymous with one another. Players get hurt. It is an unfortunate part of the game. Again, a key R-P athlete has been befallen by injury. Where the Trojans’ girls’ game with Mabel-Canton would’ve went had Mikayla Crawford not hurt her ankle, is unknown. Where it went once she was out, is known. The Cougars pounced on at an opportunity and pulled … [Read more...]
