Susan Berg obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Funeral service for Susan R. Berg will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday August 3, 2026, also at Zumbro Lutheran Church – Rochester, Minnesota, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The burial will take place at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Valley at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Susan Renee (Himle) Berg passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St Marys Campus surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born April 13, 1964, and attended school in Spring Valley before attending Winona State University before graduating from Concordia University. Susan worked for many years in the Radiology Department at Mayo Clinic before going to work for Dodge County, retiring in 2024.  She enjoyed spending time at her family’s cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin, playing cards, board games, scrapbooking, singing, dancing and anything to do with music, but most of all she enjoyed just being together with her family and friends. And of course, spoiling her children and grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her children Ryan (Chelsea) Matzke of Monticello, Minnesota, and Kati (fiancé Tyler) of Savage, Minnesota; grandchildren Elayne and Isaac, parents Lee and Carol Himle of Spring Valley, Minnesota, brother Steve (Alysa) Himle and their children Tyler (Rosie) and Madison (Tommy), and brother Todd Himle of Spring Grove, Minnesota, and his children Jacob, Brady (Michael), Dylan (Tiffany), and Grace. She is also survived by her loving partner Troy Opsahl of Goodhue, Minnesota.

Susan was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Susan will be remembered for her positive attitude; she was always smiling and laughing, and she would love you with her “whole” heart. She was her family’s “sunshine.”
