Stella Ann (Hager) VanGrevenhof

May 17, 2022 by Fillmore County Journal

Stella VanGrevenhof obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Stella Ann (Hager) VanGrevenhof, 75, of Spring Valley, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Stella was born on June 1, 1946, to Joseph and Lorraine Hager in Wabasha, Minn. After Stella graduated from Mondovi (Wis.) High School in 1964, she worked at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn., as secretary to the head hospital dietician. On November 13, 1965, Stella married Glen E. VanGrevenhof, residing in Spring Valley, Minn., where they worked in partnership in agriculturally related pursuits, including dairy farming, milk testing for Dairy Herd Improvement Association, and independent contractor work. The Spring Valley area was home for Stella and Glen throughout their 48 years of marriage, and where they raised their daughter Ginger.

Stella will be fondly remembered by the way she added beauty and whimsy to everything she touched.  She found tremendous enjoyment and satisfaction in creative activities such as flower gardening (indoor and outdoor), landscaping, refurbishing old furniture, and interior design/decorating.  Stella also assisted Glen with restoring antique tractors, specializing in decal and fine paint work.

Stella was predeceased by her husband Glen, and son-in-law Jonathan Zierdt.

She is survived by her daughter Ginger L. Zierdt of Mankato, Minn.; sister Linda (Bert) Lagarde of Sumter, S. C.; sister Beverly (Curt) Youngbauer of Alma, Wis.; and sister Barbara (Craig) Rutschow of Red Wing, Minn.  Stella was aunt to six nephews and two nieces, and loving friend to countless.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Stella touched are invited to the visitation, from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Hindt Funeral Home, 316 North Broadway Avenue, Spring Valley, Minn.  A memorial service in honor of Stella will follow the visitation, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jonathan Zierdt Cancer Fund – a donor-designated fund of the Mankato Area Foundation, or Seasons Hospice of Southeastern Minnesota.

Online condolences may be left at Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
