Spring Grove girls in control at Kingsland

State-ranked No. 9 Spring Grove met little resistance while dismissing Kingsland 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-7) in Spring Valley on Oct.6.The Knights trailed throughout except for scoring the first point of the second set before the Lions scored the next 13 points. The Grove girls attacked with 33 kills and only 8 hitting errors and served 95% with 14 kills and only 4 misfires. The home team struggled to create promising attacks and finished with more than twice as many hitting errors (20) as kills (9). The Lions improved to 19-3 (10-1 SEC East) while The Knights dropped to 6-12 (3-8 SEC West).

Seven Lion served aces. Maggie Lile served 17 for 17 with three aces, and Kylie Reynolds went 11 for 11 with another three aces. Lydia Solum served 10 for 10 with another trio of instant winners. At the net, Kenadee Gerard put away 8 kills while Addyson McHugh scored with 5 kills and contributed to 3 blocks. Against a height-challenged opponent, 10 different Lion were credited with kills, including Katelyn Kraus with 6 and Joelle Halverson with 4.

The B-team Lions (11-0) were again successful without dropping a set, winning 2-0 (25-6, 25-6). The C-team (8-2) won a more competitive match 2-0 (26-24, 25-18).
