South-East Football (9/22 & 9/23)

October 2, 2023 by Paul Trende

Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 0, #2 in 9-Man Spring Grove 35 (SG: Jacob Olerud 22-129 rushing; Bryce Berns 3-99, TD rushing, 9-20, 159, 2 TDs passing; J. Strinmoen 3-108, TD receiving, two rushing TDs; Zach Brumm 3-27, TD receiving. SG limited the Knights to 47 yards of total offense. Lion QB Berns completed passes to Strinmoen for 33, 35 and 40 yards)

Lanesboro 26, Mabel-Canton 35 (M-C: T. Larson 23-153, 3 TDs rushing; C. Tollefsrud 19-100 rushing, 4-104, 2 TDs receiving; Isaac Underbakke 6-8, 161 yards, 2 TDs passing; Darian Hershberger 2-57 receiving. L: M. Howard 16-108, 3 TDs rushing, 5 of 10, 52 yards, INT passing; Cole Sass 10-78, TD rushing, 4-52 receiving; Boston Wright 12-76 rushing. Lanesboro led 20-6 after one quarter but M-C won the second quarter 14-0, as the game was tied 20-20 at intermission. M-C went to the fourth up 28-26. A 50-yard pass from Underbakke to Hershberger helped M-C get out from its own end. Larson’s third TD run capped the drive and a Tollefsrud PAT made it a two-score contest at 35-26, which held as the final. M-C (1-2, 1-3) picked up its first win. Lanesboro (0-3, 0-4) remained winless. The Burros have lost by 15, 8, 7, and 9)

Mabel-Canton’s Cayden Tollefsrud makes this great interception in front of Lanesboro’s Michael Rein late in the teams’ Saturday South-East contest. Behind Tollefsrud’s 100-yard rushing and receiving effort, and Tyler Larson’s three rushing TDs, the Cougars grabbed their first win courtesy of a 35-26 victory.
