Shirley Hinsch obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Shirley Jean Hinsch, 98, of Hayfield, Minn., passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn. 

Shirley was born on June 5, 1927, in Spring Valley, Minn., to Clarence and Pearl (Madden) Finck.  She graduated in 1946, from Boxholm High School in Burnside, Iowa.  She married Charles Lloyd Hinsch on April 20, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  Together they had seven children, raising them in their Sargeant, Minn., home.  

Shirley enjoyed in her younger years playing basketball.  She also enjoying bowling and playing 500.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of “so and so” club and many different women’s social clubs in the Sargeant area.

Shirley is survived by her children Mary Jean (Ken) Cleveland, Wanda (Darrell) Boley, Gordon (Ellen) Hinsch, Nancy (David) Prins, Miles (Theresa Splittstoesser) Hinsch, and Carla (David) Miner; daughter-in-law Sue Hinsch, grandchildren James Cleveland, Jesse Cleveland, David Hinsch, Lori Faulhaber, Derrek Hinsch, Lindsey Jordan, Danne Buck, Matt Boley, Charlie Hinsch, Sam Hinsch, Amber Smith, Scott Prins, Corey Hinsch, Cameron Hinsch, Vincent Miner and Steven Miner; 26 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and niece Debra (Steven) Englund. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Pearl Finck, husband Charles Hinsch, son Mark Hinsch, and brothers Lloyd “Jack” (Twyla) Finck and Gerald Finck. 

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 28959 630th Ave, in Sargeant, Minn., with Pastor Mark Frieberg officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sargeant, Minn.
