Business for the Rushford Village Council is slower than usual and the most recent meeting, just under 10 minutes reflected that. A few agenda items received additional discussion, mainly in relation to Public Works.
The hunt for the new Public Works Maintenance Supervisor is on and moving forward. The position will be resigned by current supervisor Travis Scheck effective June 30. Scheck has served the city in the role since 2015 and is resigning due to an upcoming move out of state.
The deadline for applications was May 22 and just one came in. While no details were given on the applicant, the council made no motion on their hiring at the meeting. Councilor Roger Knutson noted the process for hiring should be followed, despite there being just one applicant.
The Personnel/Hiring Committee will meet May 5, at 3 p.m., to discuss items to be covered during the interview. An interview for the applicant has been set for the same day, at 4 p.m. It is expected that the committee will make a recommendation to the council at the June 16 meeting.
In other Public Works updates, Scheck noted he’d misspoken at the last meeting regarding the quote for a new grinder pump from Minnesota Pump Works. The quote is for $2,967.
Lastly, the annual Featherstone Farms Minnesota Investment Fund loan reimbursement payment, in the amount of $1,981.07 was accepted by the council unanimously. “They returned their jobs report and are very good about making the payment on time,” noted City Clerk Mary Miner.
The next regularly scheduled council meeting is June 16, at 7 p.m., at the Village Hall.
