Ronald Neis of Spring Valley, Minn., died on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Spring Valley Care Center.
Ronald Anthony Neis was born in Stacyville, Iowa, to Christina and Raymond Neis on December 26, 1942. They moved to Wykoff, Minn. Ron graduated from Wykoff High School, where he excelled in basketball for the Wykoff Wycats. In 1960, he enlisted in the US Army for two years, and then in the Reserve afterward. Ron married Rita Niemeyer in 1963, they later divorced. He married Eloise King Glynn (Lala) in 1990.
Ron worked for United Parcel Service out of Rochester, Minn., for 32 years where he received many safe driver awards. He retired in 1995. Ron did work part-time for Kingsland School District driving the van and bus, he also worked for Wilson Farms in the spring and fall for 22 years.
Ron loved sports of all kinds, especially Vikings, Gophers, MNBA Lynx, NASCAR, and dirt track racing. He often drove the bus to local ball games. Ron and Lala also attended the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, Pro Football game in Hawaii, and many Gopher and Viking games.
He enjoyed his family and especially loved his great-grandkids.
Ronald is survived by his wife Lala, three sons: Ron Neis Jr. (friend Jenny) of Phoenix, Ariz., Randall Neis (Mandy) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Russell Neis (Molly) of Eagan, Minn.; three step-daughters: Pam Waugh (Ray) of Racine, Minn., Kristine Henke of Racine, Minn., and Jodie Jacobson (Jim) of Dexter, Minn., daughter-in-law Kris Neis of Chatfield, Minn.; two granddaughters, one grandson, seven stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Robert Neis (Lois) of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; two sisters, Maridean Fermilus (Marv) of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Rosemary Neis, Rochester, Minn.; and sister-in-law Cyndee Neis of Oronoco, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rick, three brothers, one sister and a stepson-in-law.
A memorial service for Ron is scheduled for 2 p.m., on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at St. Ignatius in Spring Valley, with Father Gregory Parrott officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery in Wykoff.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite Minnesota Viking attire.
