Funeral Mass for Robert F. “Bob” Czapiewski will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with Father Gregory Parrott officiating. Burial with military honors will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Bob Czapiewski, age 93, of Spring Valley, Minn., died Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Spring Valley Living. He was born November 8, 1931, in Winona, Minn., to Daniel “Chip” and Dorothy (Pfielsticker) Czapiewski. He attended country school through the eighth grade and attended and graduated from Winona High School. After attending one year of college at Winona State, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 30, 1951, serving four years, being discharged on July 29, 1955. While in the Air Force Bob was a ground radio operator serving in Japan. After his discharge he returned to Winona State where he received his teaching degree. Over the years Bob continued his education at Bemidji State, receiving his master’s degree. On November 24, 1956 he was united in marriage to Janet Brom at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, Minn. In 1958 Bob accepted a teaching position in Spring Valley, Minn., and continued working there for 39 years, retiring in 1997. Bob taught business education, accounting, typing and elementary computer and keyboarding (which he truly enjoyed). He also served as the Spring Valley High School Yearbook Advisor from 1959 through 1972. For many years during the summers he also worked for Kappers Construction and Willard Jahn Construction. Bob was a member of Spring Valley VFW Post 4114 and served as commander from 1979-1986. He was also a member of the Spring Valley American Legion, the National Education Association, served on the Spring Valley City Council and was a member of the Austin Ham Radio Club. His call letters were KOIHV. Bob also served as a weather and storm watcher for many years. He enjoyed gardening, camping, riding bike and his HAM radio.
He is survived by his wife Janet, children: Stephen (Trish) Czapiewski, Chris (Renae Lange) Czapiewski, Mike (Meg) Czapiewski, Debbie (Scott) Worden, Jeff (Susan) Czapiewski, Karen “Goldie” (Wade) Krahn, Kathy (Gary) Nagel, George Czapiewski and Susan (Tim) Hoke; grandchildren: Allison (Matt) Timm, Sara (Josh) Marshman, Zach Czapiewski, Zoe (Nate Mallo) Czapiewski, Jennifer (Troy) Lange, Nicole (Andy) Meyerhofer, Kaylie (Kris) Nguyen, Mitchell (Kayla) Czapiewski, Carter (Andrea Kiefer) Czapiewski, Makenna Czapiewski, Savannah (Adam) Desmarais, Tierney Czapiewski, Tanner Czapiewski, Grant (Sydney) Worden, Kent (Megan) Worden, Mark (Jennifer) Czapiewski, Emily Czapiewski, Camille (Jesse) Lunn, Samuel Miland, Levi Nagel, Karrington Czapiewski, Montgomery Czapiewski, Simon Czapiewski, Henry Hoke and Meredith Hoke; 27 great-grandchildren and a sister, Maxine Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Dorothy, grandsons Owen and Keegan, brother-in-law Allen Johnson and nephew Matthew Johnson.
