Robert Allen Haug

May 14, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal

Robert Haug obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Robert Allen Haug, age 87, of Shevlin, Minn., passed away on January 1, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N. Dak.  Bob was born in Grafton, N. Dak., on May 17, 1937, to Selmar and Dagny Haug.  He was raised in Fairdale, N. Dak., area.  As a young man he moved to the Lanesboro, Minn., area with his family and started farming.

He tried his hand at many things: farming, auctioneer, truck driving, rancher.  But the profession he loved the most was ranching in Montana.  A few of the many places he lived and called home are Rose Ranch, Snowville, Utah; Green Valley Angus, Helena, Mont.; Gold Block Angus, Boyd, Mont.; N Bar Ranch, Grass Range, Mont.; Cross Four Ranch,  Miles City, Mont.; T Bone Feedlot, Miles City, Mont.; Campbell’s Corporation, Fort Smith, Mont.; Diamond Bar J, Dillon, Mont., and Flat Willow Ranch, Grass Range, Mont.

Bob was well known for his kindness and gentle nature and will be greatly missed by many. In retirement from ranching, one of Bob’s favorite pastimes was his trips to the Lanesboro Sales Barn to find a few good calves to bring home and feed up.

Bob is survived by his daughter Jackie Paine of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and her family, son Calvin (Erica) Haug of Billings, Mont., granddaughters Madison Haug and Savannah Haug of Montana, stepchildren Judy (Sandy) Miller, June (Arnie) Danielson, Joyce (Steve) Irish, Twyla (Greg) Krueger, Bobby Hanson, Bill (Lisa) Hanson, Tracy (Brenda) Hanson and Sara Kujath; as well as several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings Margaret Ylvisaker, Shirley (Sidney) Jordahl, Philip (Clorees) Haug and Wayne (Cathy) Haug; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends from far and wide.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Selmar and Dagny Haug and brothers Gaylord Haug and Donald Haug.

A celebration of life is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at North Prairie Lutheran Church, Lanesboro, Minn.  Visitation will start at 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial in the church cemetery and luncheon to follow.
