Paul “Herb” Hanson, age 58, lifelong resident of Lanesboro died Tuesday, November 28, at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Paul was born May 8, 1959, in Rochester, Minn., to Carroll and Evelyn (Hilden) Hanson. He grew up and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1977. He had worked for Whalen Sand and Gravel, Norse Products, and for the last 27 years at Preston Specialties, Inc. (PSI). Paul enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing fast-pitch softball, following sports, especially the Vikings and Twins; and his different pets.
Paul is survived by his wife Diane of Lanesboro, a brother Craig (Michelle) Hanson of New Hope, Minn., nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law Greg (Shari) Qualy of Lanesboro, Brenda (Curt) Lafleur of Harmony, Minn., Doug (Geri) Qualy of Cresco, Iowa, Marcia (Bill) Huercamp of Canton, Lorie Kerns of Canton, and Kate (Jeff) Olson of Highland, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loren; and brother-in-law Brian Kerns.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanesboro Community Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
