He ran an in competition personal-best time. LARP sophomore cross country runner Luke O’Hare will have two years to move up the list should he want to work to do so. At the 2018 state cross country meet, O’Hare finished in a time of 16.55.0, his best time of the season (career), bettering his section title pace of 17:01.8. He finished a very respectable 41st of 176. He was the sixth highest placing sophomore and the ninth highest finisher who wasn’t a junior or senior. Oddly, O’Hare finished behind section foes, PEM runners Samson Hagen (35th > 16:52.6) and Griffin Doughty (37th > 16:53.5), two guys he oft beat in the regular season. O’Hare’s LARP teammate Aidan Ellinghuysen took 97th (of 176) in a time of 17:26.6. It was the senior’s second best time of the season. The duo capped a great year that saw O’Hare rip of seven first place finishes, Ellinghuysen seven top 10 finishes. They helped lead their LARP team to top four finishes in every race. Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin sophomore Geno Uhrbom took first (15:38) followed by Mora junior Cooper Lennox (15:56.4) and Staples-Motley sophomore Emmet Anderson (16:07.5). The junior class was the age to be. Seven of the top 10, 12 of the top 20, and 18 of the top 30 runners were 11th graders. Perham, with four team runners in the top 10 (64), took the team state title over West Central Area. Section 1A team qualifiers PEM and Lake City took tenth and 15th respectively. Perham also won the girls team state title over Howard Lake-Waverly. Cotter took third, as Grace (17:19.4) and Lauren Ping (17:41.) went 1-2. Teammate Morgan Arnold (18:27.1) took fifth. Lake City took sixth. The 5000-meter races were held at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
