O’Hare Nearly Breaks 17:00 in Win

September 28, 2020 by Paul Trende

Fillmore County Journal - Paul Trende Sports Director

He will probably get there this season.  He won last year’s 1A Meet in a time of 16:48.7.  LARP runner Luke O’Hare did finally tear up yardage he’s yet to blaze a trail on, the Ferndale Golf Course.  Matt Kingsbury’s group hosted its first of two meets at Rushford’s estate for golf and the boys squad had no problem winning its third race in as many tries.  LARP (21) easily topped Pine Island (52) and Schaeffer Academy (59).  O’Hare (17:00.97) easily took first with teammate Tyler Rislov (17:14.86) trailing a few yards behind at the 5,000-meter race.  It was a season best pace for Luke, on a hilly course.  LARP then had the fifth (Andrew Hoiness > 18:16.3), sixth (Ryan Prinsen > 19:17.04), seventh (Tyler Betthauser > 19:22.23), and eighth places (Aaron Prinsen > 19:22.47).  They got six in the top eight.  SA and Pine Island each just had two top ten finishers.  The LARP boys continue to impress.  Pine Island (20) was the only girls team to finish five runners.  Schaeffer ran just three while the host LARP team had just four finish.  Panthers Brooklyn Horton (23:01.0) and Brooklyn Radtke (23:31.6) took first and second at their 5-kilometer race.  LARP freshman Ellie Ekern (23:59.12) took third and teammate Grace Buchanan (24:35.27) fifth.
