Normen Ernest Peterson, age 86, joined his beloved wife in heaven on February 5, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Normen Ernest Peterson “Pete” was born June 27, 1938, to Ernest and Estella Peterson in Decorah, Iowa. Norm grew up in Wykoff and raised his family on the same family farm he was raised on.
Norm “Pete” proudly wore many titles: photographer, auctioneer, farmer, cattle salesman, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. You would often find Norm showing off photos in their office, making sure everything was “just right” when taking photos, telling stories, and beaming with pride as he talked about his family. One of Norm’s favorite stories was that of his Burton Dairymaid registered Ayrshire, who was national grand champion in 1959, making Normen the youngest to win a national grand championship at that time.
Norm was married to his beloved Doris in September 1960. Together they built a life and relationship that many only dream of. While Doris was the “brains” behind their businesses, Norm was the “muscle.” Norm was often on the road taking livestock photos and selling cattle, while Doris held down the fort at home with their three children. The well oiled machine that was “Norm and Doris” were inducted to the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association Hall of Fame in 2020. Normen’s passion and devotion to his craft was honored and appreciated by many.
Normen was a strong family man that instilled work ethic, values, and to truly enjoy life to the fullest in those around him.
Normen is survived by his three children: Brad (Sherry), Jodie (Bill), and Jana (Joe); four grandchildren: Michael, Mark (Brianna), Jared (Kelley), and Shauna (Drew); six great-grandchildren: Addison, Keira, Grayson, Walker, Felix, and Collin; his brother Clint (Marlene), nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Doris (may they be dancing in heaven), and his parents Ernest and Estella.
