Millicent Scheevel, age 67, of LeRoy, died Monday, November 27, 2017, at Mayo Clinic – St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services for Millie Scheevel will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Greenleafton Reformed Church in Greenleafton, with Rev. Roger Lokker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church in Greenleafton and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Millicent Faithe Scheevel was born July 7, 1950, in Cresco, Iowa, to Melvin and Frances (Scheevel) Scheevel. She attended York and Red Schools and graduated from Harmony High School in 1967.
She went to work for the phone company in Preston, Minn. After several years she moved to Cresco, Iowa, to work in the business office for Howard County Hospital. She later moved to Rochester, Minn., to work for the business office of Mayo Clinic. She spent 40 years working in medical coding operations before retiring and moving to LeRoy, Minn.
Millie was an avid Roy Roger and Dale Evans fan. Her trips to Branson and other vacation spots with her family were much anticipated and then chronicled in her photo collection. She enjoyed county fairs, local celebrations and shopping. Her hobbies included needlepoint and reading as well as following all the activities of her nieces and nephews. She was a woman of great faith and a lifelong member of Greenleafton Reformed Church.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her sisters and brothers: Deanna (Joe) Larson, Mabel, Minn., Fred Scheevel, LeRoy, Minn., Elaine (Dennis) DeVries, LeRoy, Minn., Clyde Scheevel, Worthington, Minn. and Craig (Paula) Scheevel, Winona, Minn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Paul Larson, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Tim Larson, Mabel, Minn., Matt (Raniela) Larson, Rosemount, Minn., Marie (Tim) Mank, New York City, N.Y., Kate Devries, Rochester, Minn., Emily (Mike) Nehl, Alta Vista, Iowa, Grace (Karl) Housker, Mabel, Minn., Ryan (Amanda) Scheevel, Coon Rapids, Minn., Ben (Ashley) Scheevel, Estherville, Iowa, John (Kayla) Scheevel, Apple Valley, Minn., and Steven Scheevel, Winona, Minn.; as well as seven great-nieces and nephews.
