It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melanie Ann Ritter, 57, of Lanesboro, Minn. She passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2024, with her husband Dan by her side. She was a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend. Despite the challenges, she faced her cancer diagnosis with determination and grace. Her warmth and unwavering love will be deeply missed.
Melanie is survived by her loving husband Daniel Ritter, her children Kurt (Cristina) Sohn and Lani (Chris) Viljoen, her stepsons Justin (Malorie) Ritter and Joe (Kendall) Ritter, and her treasured grandchildren Karter Sohn, Kinsley Ritter, and Paige Viljoen. She is also survived by her in-laws Ken and Diane Ritter, and countless friends who became family through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carolyn Hill and Gordon More, and her grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, from 4–7 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. A funeral service to celebrate Melanie’s life will take place on Thursday, November 21, at 11 a.m. at Rushford Lutheran Church, with an additional visitation one hour prior. A private burial will follow at a later date.
Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we had with Melanie and the countless memories she created. Her love will forever remain with us.
