Mary E. Allen obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Mary Elizabeth Allen, 66, of Chatfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Mary was born in Decorah, Iowa, on December 15, 1957, to Marie (Flaskerud) Hegtvedt and Earl Hegtvedt.

Mary was raised and attended school in Spring Valley, Minn. After graduation Mary moved to the Minneapolis area where she worked as an administrative assistant and was an insurance underwriter for many years. On August 25, 1990, she married Bill Allen.

Mary loved traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Mary is survived by two brothers, Edwin (Jean) Hegtvedt of Charles City, Iowa, and Donald (Linda) Hegtvedt of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Julie Kulsrud of Lanesboro, Minn., and Earlene (Gary) Nelson of Grand Ridge, Fla. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews that were an important part of her life.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Bill Allen, nephews Bradley Jeche and Logan Luft; and brother-in-law Roger Kulsrud.

Memorials are preferred to your favorite charity, in Mary Allen’s name.
