Lois Marie Carson (Wordelman) died peacefully at her home on December 15, 2022, in Mesa, Ariz., at the age of 91.
Lois is survived by her second husband Frank Klassen of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers Dale Wordelman of Rochester, Minn., (wife Lorrine), and Jon Wordelman of Kasson, Minn., (wife Marlene); children Sandy Fortney of Mesa, Ariz., (husband Daniel), Sheri Bauter of Ridgefield, Wash., (husband Steve), Richard Carson of Mesa, Ariz., (wife Barbara), and Charles Carson of Mesa, Ariz.; stepchildren Gary Klassen of Kingsburg, Calif., Darlene Carlson of Mill Valley, Calif., (husband Rick Wahlstrom), Susan Wiebe of Reedley, Calif., (husband Bob), and Janet Goodreau of Kinsburg, Calif., (husband Bill). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Roger Carson, her oldest son Stephen Carson, and her parents Reuben and Evelyn Wordelman.
Lois was born on September 9, 1931 in Spring Valley, Minn., to Reuben and Evelyn Wordelman. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1949.After high school she went to secretarial school at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and worked there after. She married Roger Carson on January 28, 1950. After she married, she and Roger farmed in Spring Valley, ran two motels, and she prepared income tax reports. In 1978 they moved to Brainerd, where she sold real estate and became a real estate broker. In 1993 she and Roger moved to Mesa, Ariz., where she continued to sell real estate. She enjoyed playing cards any chance she could get. She retired from real estate around 2004.
She married her second husband Frank Klassen in 2014 and remained living in Mesa, Ariz.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Velda Rose Methodist Church, 5540 E. Main St., Mesa, Ariz. 85205, with a reception to follow at the church.To celebrate Lois’s life, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
